Mom, Dad’s Getting Married Today. My Anniversary Call From The Future Chapter 05

Gemma smiled.

“Look at the daughter you raised. A mistress. The shame will follow her forever.”

My father’s eyes went wide. His lips trembled.

His breathing turned faster and faster.

The monitor started screaming.

“Dad!”

I rushed over and pushed them aside.

My phone hit the floor and shattered.

My father’s mouth was open, his face purple.

He couldn’t get a word out.

I slammed the call button like a madwoman, tears streaming down my face.

The doctors and nurses rushed in, their faces changing instantly.

“Respiratory failure! Get the defibrillator!”

The bed was wheeled into the ER.

My legs gave out-I could barely stand.

Before I could recover, a nurse hurried over.

“Are you Maren? Your mother was attacked in her room. She hit her head on the corner of a table.”

“She’s unconscious. They’re working on her now.”

My mind went blank. I held onto the wall just to stay upright.

“How…”

Gemma crossed her arms, a smirk curling at the corner of her mouth.

“Who else? Probably some concerned viewer who saw the livestream.”

“Who could blame them, really? Having a daughter like you.”

“Honestly? They’d be better off dead than being dragged down by you.”

Lena’s eyes gleamed with satisfaction.

“Maren, the whole internet knows what you are now. Stay away from Rory.”

“Or the people around you will only suffer more.”

She linked arms with Gemma and turned to leave.

“Let’s go. This time, no one’s ruining our celebration.”

Their footsteps faded.

I dropped to my knees outside two operating rooms, shaking so badly I couldn’t stop.

On my phone screen, Ruby’s messages kept flashing.

Mom, don’t forgive any of them.

The moment you let go of your father, everything will change. Even if I’m never born, I will still love you.

Tears hit the floor tiles, one colder than the next.

Inside the hotel private dining room, Rory held Lena in his arms, smiling as he soothed her.

“Alright, stop being upset. Maren only did what she did because she loves me too much.”

“You’ve been through a lot these past few days. I’ll make it up to you. In my heart, you’re my only wife.”

Lena leaned shyly against his shoulder.

Gemma and the others started cheering.

“Finally, no one in the way.”

“After this lesson, Maren probably won’t dare make trouble again!”

Laughter filled the room.

But the next second, everyone’s phone lit up with a notification from someone they all followed.

They clicked on it.

After seeing the screen, their faces changed completely.

In the frame, I looked pale.

“Hi everyone, I’m Maren. Tonight, I’m going to tell you the full truth about the ‘mistress’ situation.”

The atmosphere in the private room exploded like a drop of water hitting hot oil.

Thousands of people flooded into the livestream.

The view count kept climbing.

The hate comments kept coming.

“The mistress still has the nerve to go live? Hasn’t she been humiliated enough?”

“Who’s she performing for? Looking for her next married man?”

“What is a homewrecker even doing alive?”

Outside, dark clouds filled the sky.

Heavy rain slammed against the glass-one drop after another, like stones thrown at my heart.

I took a deep breath and steadied myself before continuing.

“Rory and I got together eight years ago.”

I spoke, my voice steadier than I expected.

The comments paused for a second-then exploded again.

“Liar! Keep lying!”

“Homewrecker!”

The screen reflected off the corner of the room.

I caught my own reflection in it-eyes red, but my lips pressed flat.

I held up the marriage license to the camera.

Yellowed paper, slightly blurry text.

Then I pulled out my old phone and opened the photo album.

One hundred love letters.

I zoomed in on the first one.

“This was the first letter he wrote me, eight years ago.”

“He said I always sat by the window on the third floor of the library, and the sunlight hit my hair like gold.”

“He waited two whole weeks before he had the courage to hand it to me.”

The comments started to split.

“Oh my god-look at the timestamp. It really is eight years old. Could this be real?”

“I have two takes on this situation!”

I ignored the comments and kept flipping through the letters, one after another.

Outside the screen, the private room had fallen into dead silence.

Rory’s eyes were downcast.

No one knew what he was thinking-except for the slight tremor in his hand as he held the phone.

Lena gritted her teeth, venom in her eyes.

She shot Gemma a look.

Gemma understood.

She slammed her phone down on the table, her face darkening.

“What is Maren trying to do? Could her jealousy be any more obvious?”

“She’s doing this to spite Lena. Lena is the legal wife now-and she’s being disgusting about it!”

The other friends chimed in.

“Looks like Rory’s lesson wasn’t harsh enough. She’s still coming after Lena.”

“Isn’t this just embarrassing Rory in front of everyone?”

“Honestly, we can’t let this slide.”

But Rory-breaking his usual pattern-stood up abruptly, his face cold and dark.

“Maren’s just upset. Don’t mess with her.”

With that, he left the room in a hurry.
