Me & Child: Fake Lady’s Stepping Stones Chapter 01

Me & Child: Fake Lady’s Stepping Stones Chapter 01 Blood Sacrifice

The day before the new project launch, when I was 32 weeks pregnant, I was dragged into an alley by several men.

By the time I was rescued, it was too late to save my baby. I lost the child, and severe bleeding meant they had to remove my uterus completely.

My father, Saul Kent, used every connection he had, swearing he’d send those men to prison.

My husband, Tyler Woods, urgently flew in the world’s top doctors from abroad to treat me

But drifting in and out of consciousness, I overheard Tyler’s hesitant voice.

“Saul, offering up a blood sacrifice from Monica’s womb just to smooth the way for the project, isn’t that going too far?”

Dad shot me a complicated look, his fists clenched tight.

Dad said, “This project is Cassie’s ticket to taking over the company. I can’t let anything go wrong. She’d been so insecure all these years not being my biological child. I can’t let Monica inherit the company

instead.

“As for Monica, she’s my real daughter, your wife. If you can live with it, who cares if she can’t have kids? Worst case, you and Cassie can always have one later.

“Letting Monica raise the child would be a way to make it up to her.”

So in Dad’s eyes, raising my husband and Cassie Kent’s love child was my compensation.

Tears soaked straight through my pillow.

This family was never really mine to begin with. If that was how it was, then I’d just leave.

“Mr. Kent, are you certain about refusing the surgery? We can still preserve Ms. Kent’s fertility if we operate now. Any delay will not only cause permanent infertility but also damage her overall health.”

I only heard Dad’s firm reply. “No surgery. And doctor, don’t forget to have the two fetuses placed in a

box.”

Tyler spoke hesitantly, “Saul, a blood sacrifice with those two should be enough. Do we really have to make Monica infertile on top of that?”

“It’s for the best,” Dad said calmly. “If she can’t have kids, she’s out of the running when Patrick picks his successor. That way, I won’t have to worry about him handing the company over to her.”

Dad carefully checked my IV drip, then looked at me with what seemed like pity.

He continued, “And if you two still want a child later on, have Cassie carry one for you. Don’t think I haven’t noticed what’s going on between you.

This way, I won’t feel like I’ve let your family down.”

Tyler lowered his gaze, a hint of poorly concealed satisfaction in his voice “Alright let’s do it that way then. Even if Monica can’t have kids later, I’ll always take good care of her

Tears poured uncontrollably down my face, soaking the pillow. My body began to tremble

So it turned out my own family was behind everything that happened to me. They set me up just to u the babies from my womb as a blood sacrifice-all to pave the way for Cassic.

They were even willing to destroy my chance to ever have children, just so Cassie could take over the

company.

I thought I’d finally found a safe harbor. Turned out I never really escaped hell.

My heart felt like it was being squeezed tight, then crushed to pieces. I couldn’t hold back any longer I opened my eyes.

The moment our eyes met, Tyler was still looking at me with that same gentle expression.

When he saw my unstoppable tears, his eyes reddened with what looked like heartbreak.

“I told them to up the anesthesia,” Tyler said, voice thick. “Monica hates pain more than anything.”

Even Dad switched from his usual cold demeanor to downright fierce. “My poor Monica, Daddy won’t let them get away with this!”

He looked at me with such heartbreak, just like a father who adored his daughter more than anything.

Dad stepped closer and tenderly wiped my tears away.

“I’m so sorry, Monica. I failed to protect you,” he said. “But Tyler’s already got the best doctor in the world coming. He’ll be here tomorrow. Don’t you worry. Even if I have to spend our entire fortune, I’ll make sure

you recover.”

I fixed them with a numb stare. “Where are the babies?”

Dad avoided my gaze. I turned to look at Tyler.

He stammered, “Monica… the babies… the babies were gone.”

He moved forward and gently held me. “It’s okay, Monica. We can have other children.”

My ability to have children was completely gone. What other children?

Even if there were a child, it would be Cassie and Tyler’s bastard.

To pave the way for Cassie, the father who once swore to make things right and cherish me forever had personally arranged for those men to attack me.

And Tyler had been hooking up with Cassie-something Dad knew about.

How utterly insane. Were these two men in front of me really my father and my husband?

I couldn’t see anything clearly anymore. I shut my eyes tight and refused to speak

The doctor came in just then.

$10 Fine Co..

The anesthesia dulled about sixty percent of the physical pain. But the remaining forty percent felt like being slowly carved apart.

I clenched my jaw, refusing to cry out from the physical pain.

But the heartache spilled over in tears I couldn’t stop.

Tyler looked at me, his eyes red-rimmed.

Dad couldn’t bear to watch and turned his back.

Their expressions seemed so genuine. But I could never bring myself to trust them again.
