Mated to Another, Imprisoned by Him Chapter 09

Mated to Another, Imprisoned by Him Chapter 09 Spring Light

Spring in the Blue Moon Pack.

I sat on the garden swing, belly round and high, sunlight spilling over me.

I rested a hand on my stomach. The pups were going wild in there today- kicking, rolling, making my lower back ache.

“Bothering you again?”

Nick walked over and draped a coat around my shoulders.

He crouched in front of me, pressing his palm to my belly, feeling the movement through the thin fabric.

My stomach jumped. His eyes lit up, a smile spreading across his face, glowing with happiness.

Since I got pregnant, he’d dumped it all on the Beta. Stayed glued to my side. Made me laugh. Cooked every weird craving. Filled a fat notebook with recipes.

“The wild roses are blooming at the border,” he said, eyes bright, looking straight at me. “Wanna go see them?”

“Yeah.” I braced the chair arm and tried to stand.

Doc said six pups. My belly was dead weight. I stumbled back two steps. Nick caught me

– one hand on my waist, one under my arm, gentle as hell.

“Easy. Take it slow.”

I looked at his nervous face and pinched his cheek. “I’m not made of glass.”

“You are.” He was serious. “You’re the treasure I almost lost.”

Cheesy.

But my heart ached sweetly.

The border hillside was blanketed in red roses. Petals danced on the breeze, skimming the wate r before floating away.

I stood at the top. Nick circled my waist from behind, tucking his chin over my shoulder, his br eath hot on my skin.

“Pretty?”

“Yeah.” I tilted my head, rubbing against him. His pheromones were light, but they always wrapped around me. Safe.

He kissed my forehead. Lips soft.

I laughed, dodging him. Turned my head.

And froze.

Someone stood below the roses.

Winder.

His eyes were locked on me. On my belly. Lips parted, like he wanted to call my name but couldn’t. Stiff. Stunned.

Seeing Winder again, I felt nothing.

No waves. No pain.

I looked at him once. Then looked away.

Nick followed my gaze. Saw him. Said nothing. Just raised a hand and covered my eyes.

His palm was broad and warm, shutting that figure out completely.

“Nina,” he whispered in my ear. “Let’s never look at him again. Okay?”

I smiled, reached up, and held the hand over my eyes, my fingertips brushing his knuckles.

“Okay.”

I felt Nick exhale. He held me, turned me around slowly, leading me back.

I let him.

Didn’t look back.

Down the slope, behind the flowers, Winder stood in the shadows, staring blankly at my back.

Now he knew He thought it was all just a dream.

Only I knew it wasn’t a dream at all.

Thank God I woke up from that living hell.
