Mafia Princess Faked Amnesia, Learned the Truth, and Never Returned Chapter 10

That day, it was at the family hospital. I’d been injured while negotiating for the family.

When Isabella got the news, she rushed over right away. She even ruined a pair of high heels in her rush to

get there.

That was their first meeting, and my unlucky day.

But Luca had specially set it as their most precious anniversary. It was an utter humiliation.

He clearly remembered it, too. His face went pale in an instant. “The main house door password was changed when Isabella first came to our townhouse. I just used it out of habit.”

“I have a bad memory, so I set my lock screen password to the same thing.”

I gave him a mocking smile. “And your personal email? That was a coincidence too?”

“Even now, you’re still making excuses for your mistakes.”

“You make me sick.”

Twenty minutes were up. I turned around and got ready to leave. But Luca stubbornly reached out and

grabbed me.

“But you faked amnesia to test me. Isn’t that distrust of me, too?”

I laughed mockingly. “Actually, I never meant to test you.”

“I just wanted to see you panic, to see you try to recall the past with me because I’d forgotten you.”

I just wanted to know what kind of person I was in his memory. What kind of life we’d lived over the past few years. In the end, I got an extra surprise I never asked for.

“It’s because you had a guilty conscience that you showed your true colors.”

“Besides, even if I hadn’t faked amnesia, you and Isabella would still have held a secret wedding with my

parents as witnesses, wouldn’t you?”

Luca stood frozen in place, unable to speak for a long time.

I took a few steps forward. I happened to see Isabella, her expression complicated.

My dad had raised her for so many years, and she still couldn’t bring herself to leave him in the family

hospital to fend for himself.

“That’s good. Mom’s in the next room over. You might as well take care of her too.”

“After all, the woman who raises you is your real mother. She raised you like her own daughter, so it’s only

right for you to take care of her in her old age.”

She stared at me for a while, crying as she spoke. “Elena, I’m sorry.”

“I didn’t mean to take Luca from you. I just couldn’t help being drawn to him.”

She was still the same as before, crying at the drop of a hat. But now, I didn’t feel a shred of sympathy for

her.

“If you couldn’t help it, you could have told me.”

“If the two of you liked each other, you could have been honest with me.”

“I don’t think of myself as someone who clings.”

“But you didn’t.”

“You chose to betray me and sneak around with him.”

“More than a decade of us growing up together as sisters, and in the end, it wasn’t worth a single man.”

That was what made me angriest. Too bad that even now, she still didn’t understand why I was so angry.

“I accept your apology. But I don’t forgive you.”

“Don’t come to me about the three of you anymore.”

My dad’s cursing came from the hospital room. “You ungrateful brat! I’m your own father. How dare you not

take care of me!”

I glanced inside through the glass. “Your voice is loud and clear. Sounds like nothing serious.”

“If you’re not satisfied, go ahead and sue me in court.”

At worst, when they got old, I’d mail them a pack of the cheapest toilet paper every month.

Besides, my parents both cared about face. They were the least likely to do something so laughable.

I’d seen enough drama. I turned around, ready to leave. Isabella grabbed me.

“I’ll give Luca back to you. Can’t we go back to how we were?”

I looked at her coldly. “The friendship between us ended the moment you had someone attack me.”

Luca looked at Isabella in shock. I added one more line.

“That’s right. You guessed it. The attack that made me ‘lose my memory’ was arranged by her.”

“She wanted to take my place in the family, and she wanted to take my place by your side.”

Luca furiously slapped Isabella across the face. “You snake!”

I stopped paying them any mind. I walked forward with big strides.

When I was strong enough, I would come back and settle all of this. Before, I always wanted to stay close to

home, close to my family.

Only then did I finally understand the truth. I needed to go where I could grow.

Only on a bigger stage could I meet better people.

My future still held endless possibilities.
