Live Wedding: I Married My Fiancé’s Rival on the Spot Chapter 10

News of the grand livestream wedding shot to Chicago’s trending list fast.

In the playback, the last couple leaving early was especially eye-catching.

Reporters chased to the car with cameras. Mic nearly shoved to my face.

“Mrs. Lane! Quick interview?”

“As today’s final couple to complete the marriage contract, anything to say?”

Adrian stood beside me.

Black suit. One hand in pocket. The other was still gripping that freshly steel-stamped marriage

certificate.

I glanced at him. He raised an eyebrow.

Message clear-your show.

I smiled at the camera.

“Actually, there’s one person I most want to thank today.”

Reporter’s eyes lit up.

“From when we met, he always had a cold face when he saw me. Talked nasty, like I was personally

ruining his life.”

Adrian beside me huffed lightly. I pretended not to hear.

“Later I found out, he thought I was too stupid. Obvious pit ahead, and I insisted on jumping in.”

“He hinted, warned me so many times. I didn’t listen. He started fighting with me. Already a bad

relationship got worse.”

The reporter immediately followed up. “Then what?”

I turned to look at Adrian.

He didn’t look at me. Just raised his chin slightly, with a “go on” look.

“Later, I discovered that everything he said was right.”

“The pit was real. Jump in, not even bones left.”

“Looked back. Only him standing far away yelling at me not to jump.”

“Pity I didn’t believe him then.”

“Fortunately, God thought I wasn’t stupid beyond saving. Arranged us on the same day, same

place.”

The reporter laughed. “So fate?”

“Sort of.” I pulled out the marriage certificate. Waved it at the camera. “Happy ending at last.”

The reporter and cameraman both laughed.

Final question. “Any future plans?”

This time, Adrian finally spoke.

“Hospital first.” Adrian turned to look at me. Corner of his mouth was slowly lifting. “My mother-in-law’s still waiting to meet me.”

The reporter laughed, sending blessings.

After the cameras cut, Adrian pulled the car door open for me.

I bent to get in. He got in from the other side.

The car slowly pulled away from the plaza.

I flipped through the red marriage certificate. Read it twice. Suddenly spoke, “You’ve really taken to this new role..”

Adrian stared ahead. But couldn’t suppress his mouth.

“Of course. What, you want us to start from scratch?”

“That works too.”

“No way.” He answered quickly. “Took me forever to get this wife. I’m not letting her go. But from now on, every day with you is like our first day together.”

I couldn’t help laughing.

Sunlight streamed through the window.

I suddenly remembered the first time I met Adrian.

Just after Mason and I got together. Mason took me to a private poker game. Said meeting some old friends.

That night in the private room, every young heir from Chicago’s underground circles sat there. The

most difficult ones.

Adrian sat in the corner. Black shirt. Silver cufflinks. Card between his fingers. Never looked at me

once the whole night.

When the game ended, he blocked me in the hallway.

“Selena, right?”

“Stay away from Mason Morgan. He’s not someone you can trust.”

I only found it ridiculous then.

Mason chased me so publicly that the whole city knew. Flowers, yachts, private dinners. Like he’d gift-wrap all of Chicago for me. In later meetings, he was even more blunt.

Once at the Marino charity auction, Adrian stood beside me with a wine glass. His voice was calm, with just a trace of confusion.

“What do you even see in Mason?”

“You a masochist?”

I stormed off in anger.

Mason chased after me, coaxing for ages. Said Adrian and the Morgan family had been fighting over territory for years, hated each other since childhood. Told me not to take a rival’s words seriously.

Last contact was after Mason, and I got engaged.

Two in the morning. Adrian suddenly called. Voice terrifyingly cold.

“Selena. I’ve warned you so many times. Mason Morgan–this type of man always puts so-called responsibility ahead of you.”

I was about to curse back when he suddenly went silent for a few seconds. Voice dropping.

“What do I even lack compared to him?”

Then hung up directly.

The next day, Mason told me Adrian had returned to Italy.

Back then, I only thought he was unreasonable.

Now I knew. He just saw too early that I was jumping into the pit the Morgan family dug for me.

Turned out from the very start that the one who saw Mason clearly was only him.

Just his communication style sucked.

But good thing I could finally understand his subtext.
