My mind was in chaos. 

I declined Theo’s suggestion to pick up Jasper together after Vincent’s ribbon–cutting ceremony and went to the kindergarten alone. 

Outside the gate, parents crowded around as children were picked up one by one. Jasper wasn’t out yet. 

Then I saw Ivy. 

She looked haggard, far worse than the last time I’d seen her. She pushed through the crowd to face me, sneering. 

“You must be feeling pretty proud of yourself now, huh?” 

I frowned, not understanding what she meant. 

She muttered to herself: 

“I should’ve known. The little one is stubborn, and the older one is just as headstrong.” 

“I should never have been naive enough to believe Vincent had truly given up on you. And yet he brought Jasper to you…” 

That night, it had been Ivy who brought Jasper to me. 

Due to the system’s interference, Vincent had been unable to find me for a full six years. 

Perhaps Ivy thought Vincent had given up, or that after losing Jasper, she could maneuver her way back into Vincent’s heart. 

“Back then, he hated you so much. After being locked away by 

his family for ten days, the first thing he did when released 

from confinement was rush to the hospital to see you.” 

“He collapsed from a headache, hospitalized, everyone forcing you to sign the divorce papers behind his back… and yet the first thing he did upon waking was still look for you.” 

Her voice dripped with hatred: 

“I’ve been trying to win him over for six whole years. Even an iceberg should’ve melted by now, right?” 

“One refuses to acknowledge me as their mother even if it means their own life. The other would rather die than accept 

me.” 

“Both of them… so foolish.” 

“Having something better, yet deliberately not choosing it 

Just then, Jasper emerged from the kindergarten with his 

backpack. 

When he saw me, his eyes lit up, and he ran toward me. 

Ivy seemed to regain her composure, saying suddenly: 

“You know, after he found you, he went to the hospital for surgery. From now on, Jasper will be his only child, and he updated his will, leaving all his assets to you.” 

“To the system, such a male lead has no remaining value to be ‘conquered.“” 

“My mission has failed.” 

According to the system, no matter how the conqueror intervenes, once the male lead’s character is complete, their 

arc is irreversibly broken. Thus, her task had failed. 

Hatred flickered in her gaze, and I felt a sudden, terrible 

premonition. 

The next moment, Ivy lunged toward Jasper. 

I saw the glint of a dagger in her sleeve. I grabbed her hand to 

stop her, but she shrugged me off, driving the blade toward 

Jasper. 

I barely had time to turn my back, clutching the warm, trembling bundle in my arms. 

I closed my eyes. 

Memories flooded me. 

The hospital window from years ago, the sudden cry from the 

infant in my arms. 

Ivy telling me back then, “Children forget easily. Soon he’ll see 

me as his mother, so I can do whatever I want with him.” 

The night Jasper ran a fever, crying in a voice message, asking 

if I was going to abandon him again. 

Sitting by his bedside, feeding him medicine, he had suddenly hugged me and whispered, 

“Mommy, I love you.” 

Pain didn’t arrive as expected. 

Jasper was frightened, clutching my shirt tightly, burying himself against me as he sobbed loudly. 

Behind us, blood spattered across the ground. The 

kindergarten security and nearby parents pinned down Ivy, 

who laughed maniacally. 

Vincent’s hands were behind his back, concealing the arm 

wounded by the dagger. 

“Sorry. I came too late.” 

Blurred vision, tears streaking my face, I shook my head. 

“No… you found me.” 

You found me amidst fate. 

Perhaps, when that petal fell again, I had regained the courage 

to defy destiny. 

If love is courage, then no matter how difficult, I would always stand unwaveringly in front of the person I cherish. 

Ambulances and police cars roared past. Shadows tangled 

under the sunset. 

Vincent spoke, casually, as if distracted: 

“The ring… you really lost it?” 

He seemed unusually concerned, like he’d been holding it in 

for a long time. 

I lowered my eyes, feigning indifference: 

“No… it’s in the bedroom.” 

“Tonight, you can find it yourself.” 

He paused, then suddenly smiled. 

From now on, let’s see each other every day, Vincent.
