Labor Pain And A Mate Who Ignored My Pleas Chapter 04

Vincent’s sister, Zara Blackthorn, stood in the doorway.

The air in the room froze. The maids dropped their hands and lowered their heads.

Uma went pale, frantically wiping blood onto her skirt.

Vincent had started as an ordinary pack member, an orphan with nothing to his name. The only reason he’d become Alpha—besides his raw strength—was Zara’s endorsement. She’d driven back rogue invasions more times than anyone could count, and the pack revered her. Many elders thought she deserved the Alpha title more than he did.

Zara’s eyes swept over the iron frame, the ropes, the blood-soaked bed, the welts on my stomach—and then the needle still in Uma’s hand.

Her gaze landed on my birth opening, where a tuft of dark hair was barely visible through the blood.

Her face went pale.

Then she lunged and slapped Uma across the face—twice.

Uma crumpled, blood trickling from her lip.

“Alpha Vincent said—we had to wait for him—”

“Did the Alpha order you to murder his Luna and his pup?”

Zara’s voice shook with fury.

“Has Ravencrest Pack become a rogue den?”

She pointed at me, her hand trembling.

“This is Luna Fiona. And that is Alpha blood in her belly. How dare you?”

She spun to her guards.

“Lock down the Pack House. Detain Beta Thomas, Dr. Roberts, Uma, and every servant involved. Notify the Moon Council. This is a Luna emergency assault case.”

“You—cut her loose. Now.”

The guards sliced through the ropes.

The instant they fell away, my belly released—and more blood poured down my thighs. The pain below was still unbearable.

Then someone screamed.

“Blood! So much blood! The pup… the pup’s head is moving!”

Zara whirled and roared, “What are you waiting for? Call an ambulance! Now!”

…

Across town, in a private suite at Pack Hospital.

Unity lay pale against the pillows.

Vincent sat beside her, spooning chicken broth to her lips.

Every so often, he leaned down to press his ear to her belly, his eyes soft with adoration.

“Vincent, thank you,” Unity whispered, tears glistening. “I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

“Don’t talk like that.” Vincent pressed his fingers to her lips. “I’ll never let anything happen to you or this pup. You’ve suffered enough.”

“You’re so good to me.” She squeezed his hand, letting tears fall onto his knuckles. “When the pup is born, you’ll be his father. You’re all I have.”

She bit her lip and paused, then sniffled.

“But what if Fiona hates me? I didn’t mean to go into labor while she was—”

“Shh.” Vincent smoothed her hair. “You focus on resting. Leave everything else to me.”

Unity’s eyes flickered with satisfaction, but her voice stayed timid.

“She has such a strong temper, though. I’m scared she’ll—”

“It’s fine.” He cut her off, gripping her hand firmly. “She’s spoiled. She likes to make a scene. This will teach her a lesson. Ravencrest needs a Luna who understands her place. She’ll come around.”

He said it like it was fact.

Fiona had been raised soft, a pampered princess of her old pack.

They’d met at Alpha Academy, where she’d come with her father to scout an Alpha heir. One look and they knew—the Moon Goddess had made them for each other. They fell hard and fast. But her father, a snob who thought Vincent was just a poor student with questionable character, forced her to break it off.

And damn her—she’d listened. She’d thrown him away like garbage.

Then her father got hurt, weak and broken, and Vincent finally had the power to claim what he’d always wanted.

He loved her, gods knew he did. But she owed him. That was why he brought home a different she-wolf every night and made sure Fiona could hear them through the walls.

This pain—this birth—it was the last payment she’d make for leaving him. After this, they’d start clean.

And Unity? She’d saved his life once, out in rogue territory. How could he abandon her now?

Then—

Vincent’s chest seized. His wolf snarled inside him.
