Justice for Wronged Grandma Chapter 04

Justice for Wronged Grandma Chapter 04

The next morning.

The firm’s conference room was freshly decorated.

A red banner hung across the wall: UPHOLD FAIR HIRING, DEFEND THE SPIRIT OF LAW.

Jax and two other interviewers sat at the main table.

Silas Crane and Marlow Veyra sat in the guest seats, with Corinne between them.

All the industry media were in attendance.

Rows of cameras and lights faced the stage.

Live streaming equipment glowed red.

I sat in the café downstairs and opened my phone.

The live broadcast started.

Jax adjusted his tie and stepped to the podium.

“Friends from the media, thank you for coming. Today’s press conference addresses the incident where our former partner, Elara Voss, maliciously blocked an outstanding candidate during hiring.”

He paused, frowned slightly, and looked solemn.

“Apex Legal Group has always stood for fairness and justice. After receiving reports and investigation, Elara Voss unreasonably rejected top candidate Corinne Crane. The nature of this act is extremely serious.”

With that, he waved his right hand firmly.

The big screen lit up.

Corinne’s resume was projected onto it.

First in class at Westbrook Law.

National Moot Court Champion.

Six top-tier law review publications.

Reporters in the audience began whispering.

Comments flooded the live stream:

[Rejected with a resume like this? Insane!]

[Who does Elara Voss think she is?]

[How did someone like her become a partner? There’s definitely something wrong!]

Corinne stared at the screen with a serious expression, but a faint smile tugged at her lips.

Jax stepped aside and gestured politely.

“Now, let’s hear from the family of the victim, Professor Crane.”

Silas Crane stood up, straightened his blazer, and walked slowly to the stage.

“Everyone.”

He took the microphone and slowly scanned the room.

“I came from a remote valley. Because I know how hard the journey is, I understand the weight of fairness more than anyone.”

He paused, his voice full of sorrow.

“But I never expected someone would trample fairness in such a sacred profession. Today, I don’t speak just for Corinne. I speak for all students. Their futures must not be trampled on!”

Applause erupted from the audience. People in the front row stood and clapped.

The comments rolled faster:

[Well said! Professor Crane has dedicated his life to law. A true educator!]

[My heart aches. The professor is truly upset. Look at his shaking hands…]

[Elara Voss doesn’t belong in this industry! Revoke her license!]

[Elara must apologize publicly! Answer to all hard-working students!]

Silas Crane nodded and handed the microphone to a staff member.

As he returned to his seat, Marlow patted his hand.

Next.

Corinne was invited to the stage.

She wore a black tailored dress, her eyes slightly red.

She took the microphone, paused for a few seconds as if calming down.

“Hello, everyone. I’m Corinne Crane, the victim in this incident.”

Her voice trembled slightly.

“Since the first day I entered law school, I told myself I would use the law to serve this society. I worked hard for four years and achieved some results.”

She took a deep breath, her eyes growing redder.

“But I never imagined that before I even entered the industry, someone could dismiss me so easily. I didn’t know what I’d done to offend Ms. Voss—until I learned she often favors male candidates. Even the most qualified women are rejected for vague reasons.”

She paused, her fingers tightening around the microphone until her knuckles whitened.

“Maybe she can’t stand having another strong woman at the firm. But my grandfather has always told me: law has no gender. Women can be excellent too. We can speak for people. What Ms. Voss did ignores education and insults all female job seekers!”

She lifted her chin slightly.

“Today, I stand here not just for myself. I stand for all female job seekers. I demand fairness from her.”

Silas Crane nodded from the audience.

Marlow Veyra picked up a tissue and dabbed her eyes.

Comments exploded again:

[Truly raised by Professor Crane! So brave!]

[Elara Voss favors men? Disgusting!]

[Corinne Crane is real female empowerment! Support her!]

Then, clear applause came from the doorway.

I clapped my hands and walked inside.

“Excellent speech, Corinne.”

Every eye in the room turned toward me.

Two front-row reporters swung their cameras around immediately.

Corinne looked at me too, the microphone tilting slightly in her hand.

I walked to the podium and stood still.

“You say you represent all female job seekers.”

“Then when you faked your academic work, did you ever think about the girls whose papers you stole?”
