Chapter 4 Told You

Tiffany turned to Maxwell with a wounded expression. “Maxwell, if you don’t believe me, I’ll just get rid of this baby so I don’t cause any trouble.”

Maxwell frantically wiped away Tiffany’s tears, then lunged forward and grabbed me by the hair. He slammed my head into the ground.

“You’re a useless woman who can’t even get pregnant, and you dare accuse Tiffany? We’ve been married for five years and you never had a baby. Who knows if you’ve been sleeping around with other men!”

Blood ran down from my head, and the words stabbed even deeper into my heart.

My entire life revolved around work and Maxwell. To protect his pride, I’d told everyone I was the one with fertility problems, but now he was twisting it around and accusing me of cheating!

“Maxwell, the reason I haven’t gotten pregnant is because you have low sperm count. If you don’t believe me, go get tested.”

Maybe it was his ego taking a hit, but Maxwell’s face flushed bright red with anger.

Tiffany screamed, “Natalie, you’ve gone way too far! I can’t believe you’re attacking me and now Maxwell too!” Right after she said that, she clutched her stomach and cried out in pain.

Maxwell immediately rushed over and scooped her up in his arms, then snarled at me, “Natalie, if anything happens to Tiffany’s baby, you’re going to regret it.” He turned and rushed toward the hospital without looking back.

I watched his anxious figure disappear and thought about how he used to treat me that way. When did everything change?

My shattered phone on the floor lit up with a new message from Tiffany. “Natalie, I’m going to take everything from you!”

I couldn’t help laughing out loud. I wondered if she’d still be this cocky after the company crashed

tomorrow.

The next day, Maxwell’s assistant burst into Tiffany’s hospital room, shouting in a panic. “Mr. Sullivan, we’ve got a major crisis at the company!”

“Keep it down! Can’t you see Tiffany’s trying to rest?” Maxwell frowned and snapped at the assistant who’d just barged in.

“Mr. Sullivan, we lost the bid!”

Maxwell frowned. “What bid?”

The assistant looked ready to pass out from frustration seeing how clueless Maxwell was. “Mr. Sullivan, we lost the bid that decides whether the company can go public!”

A sense of dread crept over Maxwell as he watched his assistant panic, but he still insisted stubbornly, “Did

that bitch Natalie trick you too? The bidding hasn’t even started yet.”

Tiffany nodded confidently. “Natalie really went all out, huh? Even sent the assistant to chase us down at the hospital.”

The assistant was livid that Maxwell refused to believe him. He yanked out his phone and shoved it in Maxwell’s face. “Mr. Sullivan, the stock price is already tanking!”

Maxwell’s face went pale as he stared at the red line plummeting on the screen. “How… how is this happening? Where’s Natalie? Get her to fix this now!”

He frantically pulled out his phone to call me, but then he remembered he’d crushed my phone under his foot last night. The call wouldn’t go through, and Maxwell just kept getting more and more agitated.

“Where’s Natalie? Isn’t she at the company?”

“You fired her yourself last night in the company group chat, sir.” The assistant couldn’t help but remind him quietly.

Maxwell froze. He suddenly remembered he’d signed the divorce papers last night. Natalie had always been the one to fix things when the company ran into trouble, and for a moment, he felt a flicker of regret. “Maxwell, it has to be Natalie getting revenge! She’s sabotaging the company on purpose!” Tiffany’s angry voice cut through his thoughts.

Her words instantly swept away his regret and replaced it with pure rage. That bitch. I’m not letting her get away with this!”

When Maxwell and Tiffany got home, I was in the living room packing my suitcase.

“Think you can run after what you did? In your dreams!” Before I could react, someone grabbed me and shoved me to my knees.

“Maxwell, are you insane? We’re already divorced!”

Maxwell stared at me, grabbed my hair, and slapped me hard across the face. “Natalie, you’re even more vicious than I thought! How dare you go after my company!”

Blood trickled from the corner of my mouth, but inside, I felt a strange rush of satisfaction. “Now you’re worried? I told you last night and you didn’t listen!”

That just made him angrier. He hit me again. “Still got a smart mouth? Let’s see how tough you are in prison!”

Tiffany pulled out a document and tossed it on the table with a laugh. “Natalie, this proves you leaked company secrets. Sign it, and you can spend the rest of your life behind bars!”
