I’m The Villainess Blocking The Shifter King Chapter 04

I’m The Villainess Blocking The Shifter King Chapter 04

For the next three days, Mason seemed to turn the tables and take the lead.

After his shower, he would wrap his arms around my waist from behind and murmur gently beside my ear, “Baby, haven’t you been feeling pent up these past two days?”

His warm breath brushed against me, making my skin tingle.

Still, I suppressed my desire and said timidly, “No. I’m fine. I’m just a little tired. Let’s get some rest.”

Earlier that day, while Mason was at work, I had booked a flight to another city.

Tomorrow, Serena and the rest of his people would come to take him away. If I stayed here, every corner would remind me of him, and it would only hurt more.

As if he had sensed something, Mason wrapped his tail tightly around my midsection.

“Baby, promise me that no matter what happens, you won’t leave me.”

“I’ll take care of everything.”

I turned around, met his dark eyes, and gently stroked his tail.

“Okay.”

His long lashes and deep eyes seemed to have a kind of magic that drew me in completely.

In the end, I could not stop myself from kissing him.

All the restraint of the past few days broke like a dam. He no longer hid how badly he wanted me, and he kept claiming me until midnight.

I had never known he was capable of that, and only then did I realize how restrained and gentle he had been with me before.

He must have sensed something.

The next day, Serena arrived right on time.

She slid a debit card toward me. “This is the payment I promised you, but once you take it, you have to swear you’ll never appear in front of Mason again.”

I pushed the card back and lowered my eyes. “Since I promised you, I’ll keep my word.”

“I’m leaving tonight.”

Her attitude was forceful. “No. You have to take it. Once you accept the payment, you won’t be able to go back on your promise.”

She gave the two shifter guards beside her a look, and they both stepped toward me at once.

Afraid they would do something extreme, I grabbed the card.

“Fine. I promise.”

Just then, Mason’s low, broken voice came from the doorway. “So this is why you’ve been acting strange these past few days?”

“You’d abandon me for this money?”

The floating comments appeared before my eyes again.

[He’s awakened! He’s awakened! The male lead has his memory back. He must hate the side character’s guts now.]

[The side character really was just after the male lead’s body. And now she’s refusing the female lead’s money and acting like she’s above it? So pathetic. We saw right through her little scheme.]

[Why does the male lead look so heartbroken? Shouldn’t he be happy? The precious female lead he’s been dreaming about is standing right in front of him.]

[Wait, wait, wait. Why are his eyes red? Why is he running away?]

[No. Is the side character really just leaving with her suitcase? I feel bad for the male lead. When his heart is broken, our precious female lead should be the one by his side.]

That was exactly what happened.

While Serena went after Mason, I left the debit card on the table.

Then I hardened my heart, took my suitcase, and left.

His memories had come back, which meant we could never be together again.

As promised, I blocked Mason on every number and app, disappearing from his world completely.

The only thing I kept was a photo of the two of us.

In the picture, we were smiling freely and brightly, with no one but each other in our eyes.

I casually set the photo as my phone wallpaper.

My new job went fairly smoothly, but every time I came home, I no longer heard that familiar voice saying, “Baby, come eat. Dinner’s ready.”

My nose stung at once.

One day, I was walking home. As I passed a quiet intersection with only a few cars around, a semi truck suddenly barreled straight toward a pedestrian crossing the street in front of me.

I instinctively tried to rush forward, but a furry foot kicked me to the ground.

A shifter charged past me, planted a kick into the pedestrian’s back, and sent him flying several yards away.

The shifter himself was hit by the semi and thrown several yards through the air before crashing heavily to the ground, blood spilling everywhere.

My scream tore through the sky.

The pedestrian who had been saved got up from the ground, cursing under his breath. He dusted himself off, then shouted at the shifter lying several yards away, “I was walking just fine, and you came out of nowhere and kicked me. Serves you right if you die!”

“Ptooey!”

He spat on the ground and limped away.

The driver sped off, and there was no one else around except me. I rushed over and took the shifter to a shifter medical center.
