I’ll Handle These Two Idiots Chapter 01

I was in first class on a flight to New York when a cashmere blanket came sailing through the air and landed squarely on my lap.

A flight attendant hurried over and crouched beside my seat. “I’m so sorry, ma’am,” she murmured. “Miss Tiffany, in the row ahead of you, insists on absolute quiet. She says she can’t tolerate the slightest sound.”

“She’s offering five hundred dollars if you’d be willing to move to an empty seat in business class.”

I set down my water glass, offered a tight smile, then picked up the blanket and tossed it back where it came from.

“I’ll pay five hundred and one. *She* can move.”

The blanket draped itself over the woman’s face in the row ahead. She ripped it off and shot to her feet, her finger pointed directly at me.

“Who do you think you are, talking to me like that?”

“Do you know who I am? Bruno Santoro owns this airline, and he’s my boyfriend.”

“If you don’t get off this plane, I’ll make sure you’re on a no-fly list for every airline in the country.”

I raised an eyebrow.

Bruno Santoro? The same Bruno Santoro I’d grown up with? The one I was supposed to get engaged to next month?

So this was the spoiled little thing my Aunt Isabella had insisted I come home to handle.

…

“Didn’t you hear me? I said, go to business class.”

When I didn’t move, Tiffany’s finger shot out again.

I met her gaze.

“Ma’am, I’m in my assigned seat. You’re the one who threw a blanket at me, and you’re the one who tried to buy me off for five hundred dollars. Why should *I* be the one to move?”

“I even added a dollar. So why aren’t *you* moving?”

The flight attendant went still, her expression carefully neutral.

“Ma’am, Mr. Santoro’s office instructed us to accommodate Miss Tiffany’s requests. So…what can we offer you as compensation? Just name it, and we’ll arrange it.”

Tiffany’s chin lifted.

“You hear that? I’m carrying a Santoro baby. The entire family is putting me first right now.”

I settled the blanket over my lap and slipped my Bose headphones back on.

“This is my seat,” I said, my voice flat. “I’m not moving.”

Tiffany whirled on the flight attendant.

“Are you blind? Look around. Every other seat in first class is empty. Bruno booked the entire cabin for me.”

“Get her out of here. I want her to learn a lesson about sitting where she doesn’t belong.”

The flight attendant stood frozen, clearly caught between a rock and a hard place.

I glanced up at Tiffany.

“What makes you think you’re the only person Bruno Santoro books tickets for?”
