“Do you have any idea how many calls I’ve fielded today because of this? Two of my clients called to ask what was going on.”

“So you decided it was me without even asking?”

Nico looked at me, his gaze complicated.

“Tessa, tell me the truth,” he asked in a low voice. “Is that person really you?”

I smiled faintly.

“If I say no, will you believe me?”

Mom’s eyes grew red.

“The evidence is right there, and you still won’t admit it?”

Chloe stood up, tears already streaming down her face.

“I know you’ve never liked me, but this will only destroy your own future.”

“Just admit it. The school said that if you confess, they’ll consider a lighter punishment.”
