I Watched Them Love Her Chapter 09

I Watched Them Love Her Chapter 09

“Chloe was being mocked by the entire school, and you just stood there and watched?”

Dad’s voice was even sharper.

“She just got here. She doesn’t know a soul. You’re the only family she has.”

“She was being bullied, and you didn’t do a thing to help her?”

I looked at them, my heart a dead, quiet thing in my chest.

All I could think was that they were wasting time I could be spending on homework.

It had been the same in my last life.

Whenever something happened to Chloe, they blamed me first.

Because in their eyes, I was the older sister.

It was my job to clean up her messes.

Even the ones she made on purpose.

Even when she was setting someone up.

“Dad, Mom, don’t blame Tessa.”

Chloe spoke up then.

“I was just being stupid. I didn’t even know how to use an automatic door.”

Her words only made my parents’ expressions darken.

Dad turned to the director of student affairs.

“I think perhaps Tessa should be moved to the regular classes, on the same schedule as Chloe. That way—”

“I’m sorry.”

I cut him off.

Everyone in the office froze.

I turned to Chloe, straightened my back, and said in an exceedingly formal tone, “As your older sister, I failed to help you today. That was my fault.”
