I Was Tortured and Buried Alive under the Tower, So I Triggered Nightmares to Confess Chapter 10

Rowan remained kneeling in place, cupping the candle stubs in his hands.

He did not move an inch, resembling a stone statue dried out over a thousand years. Everyone understood his heart had died completely.

Murmurs rippled through the onlookers. Several stepped forward to comfort him, but Elias held them back.

“Let him grieve alone for a while.”

In a far corner, Marnie was trapped by the crowd, maniacally dialing every contact in her phone. She tried reaching Jax, begging him to find a way to save her. He never answered, and soon blocked her number entirely.

“Bastard!” Marnie screamed curses, but her rage achieved nothing.

Within half an hour, every detail of her crimes spread across the internet.

Those unspeakable cruelties…

These horrific phrases, paired with livestream footage from earlier, ignited nationwide fury online.

Those who once idolized her turned vicious, flooding every platform with venomous insults. All assets registered under her name were frozen pending investigation.

One day later, police formally arrested Marnie. A warrant was also issued for Jax from Reed Architecture.

Even hiding overseas would not spare him from justice—cross-border extradition was only a matter of time. Every criminal act carries unavoidable legal punishment.

In court, Marnie fought one final, futile battle.

“I am innocent! All of this is fabricated, mere sorcery from that medium! You cannot use illusions as evidence!”

The judge shot her a cold, emotionless glance.

“Defendant Marnie, under Section 232 of the penal code, you stand charged with financial fraud, premeditated murder, and desecration of a corpse.”

“Upon consolidation of all offenses, you are sentenced to immediate execution.”

Marnie shrieked hysterically. “I demand to see Rowan! I need Rowan! I am his wife, Beau’s mother—he will never abandon me!”

Her lawyer spoke flatly in response. “Mr. Rowan has filed for divorce with the court and requested a paternity test. He instructed me to deliver one message to you.”

“He said a vile creature like you deserves nothing but hell.”

Marnie was ultimately sentenced to immediate execution for the extreme cruelty of her crimes. The paternity test confirmed Beau was not Rowan’s son at all. Every feature of the boy’s face mirrored Jax’s.

It was a bitter joke that Rowan had raised another man’s child for years.

Before her execution, Marnie sent a message to Rowan, pleading for him to care for the innocent Beau.

But every last shred of softness within Rowan had vanished. He handed Beau over to Jax’s parents, caring nothing for the boy’s fate afterward.

In truth, Rowan existed as nothing more than an empty shell, his will to live long gone.

One month later, Rowan traveled to Whispering Pines Sanctuary to seek an audience with Elias. Elias initially refused to see Rowan, but Rowan knelt and strike his forehead against each of the eighty-one stone steps until he finally agreed to meet him.

“Why put yourself through such torment?”

“I cannot tell right from wrong anymore. Ever since learning the truth, I have not slept a single peaceful night. Seren and our child haunt every dream.”

“Sir Medium, is there any way to see her once more—even if it costs my life.”

Elias sighed, defeated by his unyielding obsession.

“Mr. Mercer, release your fixation. Let the past drift away with the wind.”

“Furthermore, Miss Lowell’s soul has scattered to the winds. Reassembling it would take hundreds upon hundreds of years.”

At the mention of restoring her spirit, Rowan latched onto the hope like a drowning man clutching driftwood.

“Tell me, Sir Medium! What must I do to gather Seren’s soul? I will perform any task required!”

Elias shook his head.

“You are truly a foolish, devoted soul. Since you refuse to let go, I shall show you a path. But whether it bears fruit rests entirely on fate.”

The moment he received Elias’s guidance, Rowan commissioned a devotional shrine in my likeness, liquidating all his wealth to accumulate good karma on my behalf.

Once his fortune was gone, he lived as a devout pilgrim, continuing to gather karma for my spirit.

By fortune, Elias possessed sacred relics alongside the Rebirth Mirror, which managed to preserve fragments of my scattered soul.

Now my karma were complete, and the time had come for me to enter the reincarnation.

“Miss Lowell, may your next life be peaceful, joyful, and blessed.”

“Your father has long since been reincarnated. You share one remaining lifetime of father-daughter bond ahead of you. Go now.”

I bowed deeply to Elias to offer my gratitude, then turned and rose toward the sky.

Below, I spotted Rowan trekking tirelessly beneath the blistering midday sun.

Let the past remain scattered, where it belongs.
