I grew up in a single-parent household with modest means.

My father saw my natural talent for architecture and spared no effort to send me overseas to study.

I graduated from the architecture program at Yale University when I was twenty-three.

Yet life turned difficult once I returned to Millfield City. No firm would hire me, even for entry-level design roles.

I could not bear to tell my father I could not find work. To get by, I took a job as a food delivery driver.

That was when Rowan found me.

“Seren Lowell, is that right?” He wore a soft smile.

“I’ve reviewed your portfolio. Your designs show incredible creativity. Would you consider becoming my business partner?”

I stared at his handsome face and agreed before I could think twice.

The new company struggled in its early days.

Rowan handled every tedious task alone, letting me focus entirely on design work.

Three months later, my design for the Oriental Pearl Tower won the Global Concept Design Award.

The small firm quickly gained fame across the state and landed its first major construction contract.

I drank too much at the celebration party that night.

Bold with alcohol, I threw my arms around Rowan.

He held me even tighter in return.

“I’ve wanted to do this for a long time. I was only afraid I would catch you off guard.”

He brushed hair away from my forehead and pressed a gentle kiss to my skin.

“You’ve worked so hard, Seren.”

My heart hammered wildly in my chest. We fell in love from that night onward.

The memories faded to a stop.

A young girl in the crowd whispered softly. “Their journey together was so beautiful. They supported each other through everything.”

A hint of longing crossed Rowan’s face as he recalled those old days.

Marnie spoke up next, breaking the tender mood.

“You built this company from nothing side by side. I never understood why Seren would steal all the core work and destroy everything you two created.”

Her words stirred anger among the onlookers.

“She ruined so many lives! Clients, employees and suppliers all suffered huge losses because of her betrayal.”

“Rowan gave her a chance when no one else would. To repay him like this is unforgivable.”

The warmth in Rowan’s eyes vanished completely. He turned to Elias.

“Please skip these irrelevant details. We are here to uncover the truth of her grievances.”

Elias shot a sharp glance at Marnie before waving his ritual broom. White smoke swirled up once more.

Everyone closed their eyes again, ready for the next set of memories.
