I Was the Wrong Girl in His Bed, Now I Own His Empire Chapter 08

Bryson’s words pulled me into a distorted, dreamlike haze:

The crystal lights of the club corridor reflected across his sharp brow bone. That face, once enough to drive

the entire Westbridge University social circle insane, was now right in front of me.

My throat tightened so hard I could barely breathe.

“Don’t joke…” My voice shook slightly. “How is that even possible?”

Bryson looked down at me. His black shirt collar was slightly open, faintly revealing the thin scar along his

collarbone.

A mark left from the early days when he first took over Ventresca Family’s underground operations.

His voice was low, carrying that familiar, suffocating pressure.

“Why wouldn’t it be possible?”

“Jasmine, do you really think I would randomly put my room key into someone else’s bag?”

The night wind drifted through the terrace, lifting the strands of hair near his forehead.

“In university, you always sat in the last row, but you were top of the class every single time.”

“You never bothered taking notes in lectures. You still got full marks.”

“My first time seeing you was at a joint debate between the Finance and Law schools. Someone tried to use my family background as a joke, saying the Ventresca family were born criminals.”

Bryson let out a soft laugh.

“And you shut them all up on the spot.”

He imitated my tone lightly.

“‘If you’re so capable, go be born into a century-old financial empire yourself. Jealousy isn’t a talent.””

I stared at him blankly.

All those details I had almost forgotten… he remembered every single one.

Bryson lifted his hand and wiped away the tears at the corner of my eye.

“They said you were fat. I never thought so.”

“You were tall. Your bone structure was good. Everyone else only saw your weight. I saw the presence you couldn’t hide even standing in a crowd.”

His throat moved slightly.

“And…

He looked away for a rare moment of discomfort.

“The parts that should have been filled out… were actually very good.”

My ears burned instantly.

But even so, the scars buried in my youth still hadn’t fully healed.

I clenched my fingers, forcing myself to stay rational.

“Then why did you tell me to stop writing my diary?”

“And why did you tell Alina we were just classmates?”

Even after all these years, those words still cut like a blade.

Bryson fell silent for a moment.

Then he spoke low.

“I told you to stop writing because I knew they would keep digging through your things.”

“Ventresca’s background is too sensitive. I’ve known since I was young what human malice looks like.”

“The more you liked me, the more they would use it to mock you.”

He looked down at me.

“I didn’t want them to keep hurting you.”

“As for Alina…” Bryson let out a cold scoff.

“Her father wanted a marriage alliance with the Ventresca family. My mother didn’t object to her getting

close to me.”

“At that time, I had just been brought into the family business. There were eyes on me everywhere.”

“I couldn’t let everyone know that the person I liked was the girl in the finance department who always hid in the last row of the library to secretly watch me.”

My heart jolted violently.

But Bryson didn’t give me time to recover.

“At the graduation ball, I heard you all playing ‘Never Have I Ever.””

“Someone joked that they wanted to sleep with me.”

His gaze darkened as it fell on tny face.

“And I saw you… quietly put that finger down too.”

The air froze.

I looked at him in shock.

Bryson lifted his hand and cupped my face.

“If anyone did something wrong that night, it was me.”

“It was me who deliberately put that room key into your bag. It was me who, half drunk, tried to trick you

只 into coming to me.”

He let out a low laugh, bitter and self-mocking.

“I wasn’t even drunk. I planned to confess to you the next morning.”

“But you ran faster than anyone.”

“After that, I even wondered if I was so bad at it that I scared you off.”

My nose stung.

And then the tears finally fell.

It turned out the one trapped in that night all these years… was never just me.

Just then, the door to the private room behind us suddenly opened, voices faintly calling Bryson’s name.

His expression immediately cooled.

He grabbed my wrist.

“Let’s go.”

The door to the top-floor penthouse closed softly behind us.

The entire floor belonged to the Ventresca Family. Outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, Boston’s neon night was surging like a tide.

Just as Bryson reached for the lights, I stopped him.

“Don’t turn them on.”

“I… I might not look good

Even after his explanation, old insecurities still lingered deep inside me.

Some part of me still couldn’t believe someone like him could like someone like me back then.

Bryson paused.

He looked at me quietly, then gave a low “mm.”

Heat filled the room, tangled and thick.

His fingertips brushed my forehead, gently pushing my bangs aside. His lips followed, warm against my

skin.

“Your forehead is beautiful.”

A soft kiss moved down to the corner of my eye.

“Your eyes too.”

Then my nose, my cheeks, my earlobe…

“Jasmine… I like you.”

His warm breath brushed against my ear.

My throat tightened as I swallowed nervously.

The next second, his kiss deepened, pulling me into a spinning world.

I didn’t know how I ended up in the bathroom.

Or how I was kissed until my legs went weak, before being lifted onto the bed.

His body leaned over mine. His strong hand rested at my waist

“Back then… my first time wasn’t great. Don’t dislike me for it.”

“I’ve studied a lot of new techniques over the years from videos.”

“Jasmine… do you want to try them?”
