I Was His Wife, But His Mistress Took My Name Chapter 06

I Was His Wife, But His Mistress Took My Name Chapter 06

Half a month later, a grand business gala was held in Alderwick City.

Evelyn held onto Adrian’s arm, smiling brightly.

She looked more confident than she had ever been before.

A man approached them with a flattering smile.

“You must be Mr. Whitmore’s wife, Ms. Mercer.”

“Years ago, when my company was on the verge of collapse, it was your decision that convinced Whitmore Corporation to work with us.”

“I’ve never forgotten what you did for my company. I just never had the chance to thank you in person.”

The man raised his glass.

“I never imagined that the decisive and sharp–minded Ms. Mercer who was once known throughout the

business world would be so young and elegant.”

Evelyn froze for a moment.

But she didn’t deny it.

“Thank you. Everything I did was also to help Adrian and Whitmore Corporation…”

Watching Evelyn smile proudly, Adrian felt an inexplicable irritation growing inside him.

He never spoke about everything Vivian had done for him, but that didn’t mean he had forgotten any of it.

Years ago, Vivian had been his most capable partner in the business world.

But after she became pregnant, she left the company.

And then… he had Evelyn.

After they returned to the mansion, Adrian pulled his arm away from Evelyn.

“Evelyn, make an appointment and go through the legal process to change your name back.”

The smile on Evelyn’s face immediately stiffened.

“What’s wrong with this name?”

“I actually like it-”

Adrian interrupted her impatiently.

“Your name has been Evelyn since the day I met you.”

“Now you suddenly want to change it to Vivian. Don’t you think that feels strange?”

“Besides, our son’s birth registration is tomorrow.”

“Do you really want his biological mother’s name to be Vivian?”

Adrian rubbed his forehead.

“Tomorrow, I’ll have someone take you to the courthouse.”

“You can change your name back to Evelyn or choose something else. I don’t care.”

“Just don’t use Vivian anymore.”

The smile on Evelyn’s face slowly disappeared.

It was replaced by anger and resentment.

She gritted her teeth, lowered her head, and obediently replied:

“Adrian, I understand.”

Adrian’s expression softened slightly.

But the irritation in his heart still refused to fade.

He picked up his coat from the sofa and said coldly:

“There’s still work at the company that needs to be handled.”

“I’m leaving for a while.”

“Go to sleep first.”

Without realizing it, Adrian found himself driving to the entrance of Southwood Mansion.

Looking at the lights glowing in the distance, a strange sense of happiness suddenly rose in his chest.

Could Vivian have returned from Switzerland early?

She must have come back here alone because she didn’t want to disturb him and Evelyn.

Thinking of that possibility, Adrian parked the car and walked toward the mansion.

Holding his breath, he entered the security code, ready to surprise Vivian.

But every attempt came back with the same message.

Incorrect password.

At that moment, the front door opened from inside.

A completely unfamiliar man frowned at Adrian, his tone unfriendly.

“What are you doing?”

Adrian froze.

A bad feeling suddenly washed over him.

He grabbed the man by the collar and asked through gritted teeth:

“Who are you?”

“Where is Vivian?”

“Are you the man she’s seeing now?”

The man finally understood what was happening.

He let out a cold laugh but still answered calmly.

“You’re talking about the previous owner, Ms. Mercer, right?”

“She already sold this mansion to us.”

“No way!”

Adrian’s voice trembled.

“Why would she sell this house?”

“How could she sell it without telling me?”

The man looked at Adrian with obvious disdain.

“After the way you treated her, I’m not surprised she chose not to tell you.”

With that, he slammed the door shut.

Adrian stood frozen outside, unable to believe what he had just heard.

He pulled out his phone and tried to message Vivian, demanding an explanation.

Only then did he realize she had already blocked him.

His hands trembled as he called Vivian.

But no matter how many times he tried, no one answered.

The uneasiness in Adrian’s heart grew stronger and stronger.

Suppressing his anger and frustration, he called his assistant.

“Find out where Vivian is right now.”

“Tell her to contact me immediately.”
