I Used To Cling To Him At Night, Now I Turn My Back Chapter 05

Callan was in a bad mood.

He’d rushed home so quickly he hadn’t even taken off his tie.

The first thing he did was tug open a few buttons of his dress shirt.

“Are you still not feeling well?”

It was warm out. I was only wearing a camisole that left my bare legs exposed.

More than once, I’d waited for him like this after work, hoping to seduce him.

Every time, he’d only frown and tell me to put on more clothes.

Something flickered in his eyes.

Embarrassed, I pulled the blanket over myself.

“I’m fine… Why are you home so early?”

“Why did you move into the guest room?”

“I move around too much in my sleep. I keep pushing you off the bed.”

“It’s better if I just sleep on my own from now on.”

His eyes landed on my empty ring finger.

For an instant, they trembled.

A suffocating pressure bore down on me.

His grip tightened around my wrist until it hurt.

“You’re lying.”

His stare made my scalp prickle.

Guiltily, I looked away and tried to stand.

I never got the chance.

Before I knew it, his presence swallowed me whole and then he had me pinned beneath him.

The rich scent of alcohol washed over me.

He buried his face against my neck and took a slow breath.

His face was flushed, and for the first time, he looked less like the composed Callan and more like

an abandoned puppy.

“Why haven’t you been clinging to me lately?”

I squirmed, trying to break free.

Then I brushed against something firm and immediately froze.

He leaned down and kissed me.

The comments exploded.

[AHHH! Why did my screen go black?!]

[Did anyone record those abs that flashed by? I’m begging for a replay.]

[Pausing my OTP shipping for a sec. I’m starving. Let me feast on this first.]

[Side character, be a pal and let us get a look at your husband’s chest, yeah?]

[Wait… am I the only one who thinks the male lead might actually care about her?]

Among the flood of comments, several self–proclaimed fans of the original story quickly buried

everything else.

[Get real. Every guy has physical needs, especially after a few drinks.]

[Exactly. The fact that he came home to her instead of finding someone else just proves he has

principles. Men can separate love and sex–totally normal.]

[Look at her face–she’s clearly not into it. She can’t even play the part of a devoted wife.]

(No wonder he doesn’t love her. Even when I was pregnant, I still made sure my husband was well

taken care of.]

My fingers tightened around the bedsheet.

The addiction was back–that desperate, aching need to cling to someone.
