I Traded My Wolves for a Cold-Blooded Serpent, But Why is He Always Hitting on Me Chapter 03

The afternoon came quickly.

The door knocked. Ella was here.

The silent morning turned even colder.

“So.” John leaned against the wall, eyes sharp and disbelieving. “You’re giving all three of us to her?”

I nodded.

Jay smiled: “Not keeping even one for yourself?”

I asked back: “Which of you wants to stay with me?”

The air went still.

No one answered.

Finally Jacob stood and opened the door.

The young wolf rolled his eyes, sarcastic: “Quit acting like you care.”

He opened the door, and Ella’s bright smile appeared:

“Hey, you guys! Sis already told you, right? You’re all mine now.”

Jacob grinned and leaned in: “Hey, new master.”

Ella looked him over, then John and Jay.

“You’re all so good-looking.” She said sincerely.

“Got your bags packed?” Ella asked. Before they could answer, she added: “Never mind. Sis probably couldn’t afford nice stuff anyway. I’ll buy you all new things at the villa.”

John hummed lazily.

Jay glanced at Ella, then at me.

I showed no emotion.

Everyone’s eyes locked on me.

Ella noticed. She stepped in front of me:

“Don’t worry, sis. I’ll take good care of them. If you get tired of being alone, come home and do the marriage. Don’t make Mom and Dad worry.”

“Marriage?” Jay tilted his head. “What marriage?”

Ella didn’t explain.

When I still didn’t react, she offered kindly: “Want me to leave one with you? You look pretty sad.”

Jacob stayed right by her side.

John leaned against the wall, lazy. Jay only smiled coldly.

No one moved.

Ella wasn’t surprised. She smiled comfortingly at me.

Between her and me, no one ever chose me. We both knew it.

“Where is he?” I asked.

Ella tensed slightly, then called toward the door: “Come in.”

Heavy footsteps sounded.

A man stepped inside—tall, broad-shouldered, his back rigid as steel.

Our eyes met. His were dark and shadowed.

I pressed my lips together and greeted him: “Hi.”

He stared down at me with the slimy, cold scrutiny only a serpent had.

I shuddered.

He ignored me.

Ella waved a hand: “He’s just like that. If you can’t stand him, I’ll take him back.”

“Who’s this?” Jacob suddenly asked.

Ella didn’t want to explain. Neither did I.

She smiled and changed the subject: “The driver’s downstairs. Let’s go.”

They went quiet for a second, then followed her out without another word.

The serpent stayed.

I was about to close the door

when his dark pupils snapped into thin, cold slits.

A smooth, scaled tail coiled tight around my waist.

A strange, sharp scent burst out, filling the air.

I panicked and pushed him: “Y–you’re in heat…!”

He slammed me against the door, but his tail cushioned the blow. It didn’t hurt.

His breath brushed my neck, making my skin burn.

Then the door banged with knocks.

Jay’s voice came from outside: “Mia? You okay?”

My fingers twitched.

The cold golden slit pupils stared at me, darker than before. His tail squeezed my waist tighter.

I didn’t open the door. I reached up shakily, touched his cold cheek, and whispered:

“Does it hurt? I’ll get you suppressants, okay?”

The heavy pressure around me eased.

The thick, sweet scent stopped growing stronger.

More knocks. My head throbbed.

Ella asked hesitantly: “Sis, you two alright?”

I relaxed, thinking I’d calmed him down.

I was about to speak.

A cold press on my neck.

He bit me—not too hard, like holding prey, but with a rough, possessive softness.

I gasped quietly.

My voice shook: “Nothing’s wrong… just go.”

“Sure?” John said coldly.

I mumbled: “Mhm…”

“She said she’s fine.” Jacob snapped. He paused, then added: “Mia, that snake isn’t hurting you, is he?”

“N–no…”

I bit my lip.

After my neck, he licked the mark with his cold tongue.

Thank God I’d closed the door tight. The scent didn’t leak out.

Their footsteps faded away.

I shoved the serpent off me. I didn’t dare look at his tail. I scrambled for the suppressants.

I’d kept them for the wolves’ heats—for when I couldn’t take it anymore.

I still had plenty left.

I tossed them to him, then splashed cold water on my face.
