I Took the Money and the Quadruplets Chapter 13

Liam looked at me, his expression deadly serious, as if he’d made a monumental decision.

“I want to court you again.”

I nearly choked on my water.

“Court me?” I stared at him. “Have you forgotten that your signature is on our divorce papers?”

His expression tightened.

“I know I messed up,” he said. “Give me one more chance.”

“No.”

My answer was simple and immediate.

The air grew thick with tension.

Just then, Julian stood up and stepped between us, a human shield in a linen suit.

“Mr. Walker, Ava is now my guest curator. She has no time to indulge you in this little dramatic exercise in damage control. If you wish to discuss art investment, you may make an appointment with my assistant. If not, you may leave.”

With that, he slid the glass door to the living room shut, leaving Liam standing alone on the patio.

Liam stood there for a long moment, then turned and left.

I thought that would be the end of it.

But the next day, he came again.

This time, he wasn’t wearing a suit.

He was in a black hoodie, jeans, and sneakers. The flashy sports car was gone, replaced by a discreet black Range Rover.

In his hand was a high-end insulated food container.

“Ava, it’s a prenatal meal from a three-star Michelin restaurant in Napa.”
