I Took the Money and the Quadruplets Chapter 12

I had assumed that a man like Liam Walker, accustomed to getting his way, would retreat after such a clear rejection.

I was wrong.

The next day, Julian and I were on the terrace mapping out the exhibition when the roar of a high-performance engine shattered the neighborhood’s tranquility.

An orange McLaren pulled up in front of my house.

The door swung open, and Liam emerged.

He was dressed in a bespoke Italian suit, his hair perfect, a velvet box in his hand. He looked like he had stepped off the cover of Forbes, utterly out of place in the laid-back, artistic enclave of Carmel.

Julian glanced at him and delivered his assessment.

“The Texan has landed.”

Liam walked right up to me and stopped.

“Ava.”

He held out the box.

I didn’t take it.

“Mr. Walker,” I said, my voice cool. “This is California. Trespassing on private property is illegal.”

“I didn’t break in.” He looked slightly uncomfortable. “I bought the house next door.”

I stared at him, speechless for several seconds.

Leave it to a billionaire to make stalking sound like a real estate transaction.

“So?” I finally asked. “What do you want?”
