I Thought I Was His Stalker. I Was Actually His Girlfriend Chapter 06

“Sophie!”

Blake caught my hand immediately.

“You still have an IV in.”

He hooked an arm beneath my knees and pulled me into his chest, patting my shoulder gently.

“Hate me if you want. Just don’t hurt yourself.”

I buried my face against his shoulder and cried with my eyes closed.

“You’re awful. I finally got you to like me, and then you called me a creep. I finally tried to be nice to you in person, and you said you didn’t like me. I finally tried to get over you, and then you came back and started bothering me again.”

“Blake, you’re seriously awful.”

He held me tighter.

His lips brushed my temple.

His voice had gone hoarse.

“I’m sorry. It was all my fault. Don’t hold it against me. Please don’t hate me, and don’t give up on me, okay?”

I huffed with my eyes still closed.

“I’m not even your type. And you already have a new girlfriend, so why should I-”

“I don’t.”

Blake lowered his voice.

“I don’t have a new girlfriend. That girl you saw at school? At most, she’s a stalker.”

My eyes opened.

So the real menace had finally appeared.

“I don’t know if Logan ever told you, but someone had been sending me anonymous messages for a while. It

got worse recently. She started showing up in person, following me around, wearing the same clothes as me,

sending random things.”

My eyes widened.

Blake brushed the tears from the corner of my eye with his thumb.

“Something seemed off with her. That day, I didn’t want to act too familiar with you because I was worried

230

she’d come after you later.”

His voice stayed low and gentle.

“But I’ve already documented everything and turned it over to campus administration and the police. There

should be a result soon.”

“As for my type…”

Blake let out a long breath and rested his cheek lightly against my forehead.

His voice got even rougher.

“I owe you an apology for that too.”

“The version of you I knew online was fun. Cute. You were cute when you cursed people out, cute when you argued, cute when you got sarcastic. And when you started calling me hubby in that sweet, clingy voice…”

He gave a helpless laugh.

“That was when I really started falling for you.”

“But in person, the first few times we met, you were probably nervous. You acted really… quiet.”

“I’d never dated anyone before. So I made this stupid assumption that what I liked was a cute type of girl, like

the version of you I knew online.”

I lifted my head from his shoulder.

“And now?”

“Now I think I was an idiot.”

Blake looked at me, his expression warm.

“It wasn’t that I liked cute girls. I liked you. That’s why everything you did looked cute to me.”

After that, Blake said a lot more.

His voice stayed soft until eventually, I fell asleep listening to him.

When I woke again, it was already morning.

At some point, Blake had gotten me an observation bed.

He was asleep with his head resting beside me.

I touched my forehead.

The fever was gone.

When I looked down again, Blake was awake.

He was staring straight at me.

“What?”

I got embarrassed and pulled the blanket higher.

“Nothing.”

He caught my hand, leaned in, and pressed his forehead to mine.

“No fever.”

I murmured agreement.

We held each other’s gaze for a few seconds before I looked away.

“I’m hungry.”

Blake smiled.

He kissed my temple.

“Come on. Let’s get discharged and eat.”

He did it so naturally that my face heated up immediately.

I glared at him.

“What are you kissing me for? I haven’t forgiven you yet.”

Blake paused.

Then the smile in his eyes deepened.

He hooked one finger around mine and swung our hands lightly.

“Please, Soph. Don’t hold it against me. Forgive me already.”

I almost laughed at the nickname.

So he really had been getting jealous over nothing because of Owen.

After breakfast, Blake finished the discharge paperwork and took me back to the campus health center for the rest of my IV treatment.

Every evening after class, he came to get me for dinner, then stayed with me through the IV until late before

leaving.

When Logan found out, he got jealous in his own way.

“You two are attached at the hip now. Who’s taking care of the lonely single guy over here?”

I brushed him off.

“I’ll send Owen to you.”

Logan went quiet for two seconds.

“He’s already been taking care of me for days.”

I blinked.

Seriously?

That kid was committed.

I was about to message Owen to thank him when Blake’s message arrived first.

[Baby, I got stuck with an evening class. I’ll be a little late tonight.]

[It’s fine. I can go back by myself after the IV.]

[I’ll try to get there before nine.]

I knew arguing was pointless, so I only reminded him to eat.

Blake sent a voice message back, laughing softly.

“Okay, wifey.”

My face went hot instantly.

I had to admit, pet names like that were dangerously effective.

That night was my last two IV bags.

They finished before nine.

I texted Blake and left the clinic, strolling slowly across campus while wondering when exactly I should forgive him and start kissing him properly.

Then I heard rustling from the small grove behind me.

Curious, I turned around.

A girl in a white shirt stepped out from behind the trees holding a flashlight.

White shirt. Bright flashlight. Middle of the night.

She nearly scared me to death.

“Sophie?”

The girl said my name.

I answered automatically.

Then I looked closer.

It was the girl who had been harassing Blake.
