Through the crack in the door, I saw Sienna Brooks with tears in her eyes,

“Yes, I love you! But watching you repeatedly hurt Clara to protect me-even causing her miscarriage-I really

feel I was wrong! We can’t keep going on like this!”

The moment I heard that, my ears started ringing.

What did she mean by “repeatedly hurt”?

It felt like being struck by a wooden club; I stood there in a daze.

Sienna continued, her tears falling steadily,

“My parents abandoned me. It was Clara who brought me home and shared everything with me. How could I

bear to let her suffer any more?”

For a fleeting second, I actually hoped to hear Julian deny it.

But the truth I was most unwilling to admit.

Was confirmed by his own lips.

He pinned Sienna against the wall, his voice tinged with uncontrollable irritation,

“You can’t bear for her to be wronged, but can I bear for you to be wronged? I let certain things happen back then, even when I saw her covered in blood, my mind was only full of the injury you got trying to pull her

away!”

The details he spoke of dragged me back into those nightmares.

While I was losing my child and suffering in a hospital room.

The “traumatized and feverish” Sienna and the “forced to stay and socialize” Julian.

Finished their wedding ceremony in their specially prepared attire, surrounded by everyone’s blessings.

In an instant, all those nights I spent blaming myself for being too sensitive and tossing and turning in bed.

Seemed pathetically ridiculous.

Inside, Julian continued with his “moving” words, but they only carved into my heart.

“What do you want me to do? I beg you, Sienna, I love you too. If you’re afraid she’ll find out, we just have to

remarriage?”

Sienna’s gaze softened. With red eyes, she threw herself into Julian’s arms.

Expressionless, I pushed open the door at that moment.

The two of them instantly let go, pushing each other away with panicked expressions.

Sienna offered a pale, weak explanation,

“…Clara, I just accidentally tripped. Mr. Vane was just steadying me. Don’t be angry; I’ve already planned to

resign.”

Those pitiful, pleading eyes seemed to overlap with the eyes I had once cherished in my memory.

I vaguely remembered.

How I had repeatedly asked Julian to take care of the “helpless” Sienna.

I had even arranged for her to work at the company as Julian’s secretary.

Back then, Sienna had hugged me with sparkling eyes,

“Clara! I want to be best friends with you for a lifetime! I’ll help you keep a good eye on Julian Vane!”

I turned to look at the ill-concealed stiffness and restraint in Julian’s eyes. I heard him say,

“I was too impulsive last time. You can punish me however you want. I’ve arranged better medical resources

for your mother.”

His voice softened, as if everything could be brushed away so lightly,

“Alright, I promise I won’t have anything to do with other women again. From now on, let’s just be as good as

we were before, okay?”

I didn’t understand.

How they could be so shameless after all these years.

Just to keep their affair a secret.

They could wantonly hurt me.

The destruction of the beautiful memories in our wedding home.

The time I was trapped in the elevator and almost died.

The time I was literally crushed into a miscarriage…

All written off as “accidents.”
