I Smashed Their Royal Dream Chapter 01

I Smashed Their Royal Dream Chapter 01

Ever since my husband picked up an antique bronze mirror, he and our son had been forced to cross into another world through it every night.

They told me it was an ancient realm, where the two of them had been reduced to slaves.

Every time they came back, they would cling to me and cry.

My heart broke for them.

I tried everything I could think of to stop the crossings.

Then, on their 108th crossing right in front of me, rows of floating comments suddenly flashed before my eyes.

[Forced? Please. The first time was an accident. The other 107 times, they went willingly.]

[Her husband married a Princess in the ancient realm, and her son even started calling the Princess his new mom. The poor female lead is miserable.]

[I can’t wait for her to smash that antique bronze mirror and leave that scumbag and his son stuck in the ancient realm forever.]

My eyes widened in shock.

Before I could even process what I’d just read, my husband and son suddenly reappeared.

One was covered in whip marks.

The other’s lower leg was drenched in blood.

I refused to believe the floating comments.

Instead, I decided to sacrifice my own life to seal the mirror.

But after I died, I unexpectedly heard the father and son talking.

“Hurry, Dad!”

“Princess Catherine’s about to have my baby sister!”

“Let’s go be with her!”

“Relax.”

“Grab the fake blood first.”

“We can’t let your mom catch on.”

The floating comments flashed through my mind again.

I realized what a complete fool I’d been.

When I opened my eyes again, I saw the two of them disappearing before me.

Without hesitation, I raised the sledgehammer and brought it down toward the antique bronze mirror.

But what shocked me most was that it didn’t work

Halfway through the swing, a blinding white light suddenly flashed in front of me.

I instinctively threw up an arm.

The sledgehammer veered off course, narrowly missing my toes before crashing into the floor.

Pain shot up my leg.

But I didn’t care.

My eyes were fixed on the people in front of me.

Damon and Owen had emerged from the antique bronze mirror again, both of them covered in blood.

Except this time, it wasn’t fake blood.

It belonged to someone else.

The woman in Damon’s arms.

All I had time to see was her pregnant belly.

Damon turned toward me, his face deathly pale.

“What are you standing there for?!”

“Call an ambulance!”

My thoughts were in complete chaos.

My body obeyed him before my brain could catch up.

After I hung up, I heard my son sobbing beside me.

“Mother, hang on!”

“Mother, Dad and I will save you!”

No one but me seemed to notice what Owen had just called her.

I stared at the floating comments and dug my nails into my palm.

[OMG! What the hell is going on?!]

[Medical care in the ancient realm is limited, and the Princess is having a difficult delivery. That scumbag panicked and brought her here to give birth.]

My gaze shifted to Damon.

His bloodstained face was filled with fear and worry.

Looking closer, I could even see tears at the corners of his eyes.

Damon had always been impossible to read.

From the time I got pregnant with Owen until the day I gave birth, he’d remained remarkably calm.

Only after Owen was born did a nurse come in and tease me.

“You should’ve seen your husband.”

“He cried outside the whole time you were in the delivery room.”

I’d once felt a little sad that I’d probably never see Damon cry like that.

Now I finally had.

For another woman.

My nails dug into my palms, but I barely felt the pain.

“Damon.”

“Aren’t you going to explain this to me?”

Damon had been murmuring softly to the woman in his arms.

At my words, he suddenly looked up and glared at me.

“She’s about to die, and you’re seriously asking me this shit right now?!”

“Go check the damn ambulance!”

Almost as soon as he finished speaking, sirens approached from the distance.

Damon immediately stood with the woman in his arms.

Halfway toward the door, he turned back to me.

“Come with us.”

Still crying, Owen came over and tugged at me as if on cue.

Bitterness spread through my chest.

Damon and Owen were both incredibly smart.

But when it came to everyday life, they were completely helpless.

Without me, they probably wouldn’t even know where to go once they reached the hospital.

Damon used to say the same thing all the time.

“Babe, what would Owen and I ever do without you?”

That complete dependence had once filled my heart with warmth.

Now I felt nothing but disgust.

[Doesn’t a non-holder have to pay a price to cross into another world?]

[There’s no way he’d let the Princess pay it. She pricked her finger with a needle once, and he worried about her for days.]

[Did you guys forget? The person crossing doesn’t necessarily have to be the one who pays the price.]

[Wait… did he transfer the cost to himself?]

The floating comments made me frown.

I instinctively looked at Damon.

Nothing about him seemed different.

As I wondered what the price could possibly be, a piercing ring suddenly tore through my left ear.

It was so sharp it made my head ache.

And then…

I couldn’t hear anything.
