I Saw Our Remaining Meetings Dropped From 31441 To 9 Chapter 15

I only pulled back when he was struggling to breathe, laughing as I collapsed against his chest.

“How do you not know how to breathe?”

Miles looked embarrassed. “Sorry. Too nervous…”

Feeling how rigid he was, I laughed even harder-then looked up and realized something was

wrong.

“Why are we stopped in midair? Was this you too?”

The fireworks were long over. We’d been suspended up there way too long.

Miles seemed to register it at the same time. He shook his head, bewildered. “No.”

We sat stuck at the peak, blinking at each other. Miles didn’t panic at all-he actually started

comforting me.

“Don’t be scared. Probably just a regular malfunction. Maintenance’ll fix it fast…”

The park was old, true enough. But I wasn’t scared at all.

With no one around, I pulled Miles in and kissed him over and over, until we were finally helped

down. That’s when I realized the park had closed. Meaning the dorm was definitely locked.

I frowned. “Do you have your ID?”

Miles paused, then shook his head. I sighed. I didn’t have mine either.

“Guess we’re sleeping on the street…”

A few beats of silence, then he spoke quietly. “I have an empty condo near campus. Never stayed

there. We could crash…”

My phone kept buzzing. Carter. I hung up and blocked the number.

Then Miles’s phone rang. “Ignore it.”

I snatched it away, and my eyes flickered. “Miles, you’ve liked me since way back then?”

My gaze landed on a photo, and memory yanked me back six months.

Carter had just joined his club-he wasn’t pushing me away yet. One game, his blood sugar crashed

and he blacked out. I ran onto the court and threw him over my shoulder.

Everyone commented on how freakishly strong I was. A quiet guy silently took Carter off my back and helped carry him to the health center.

I only registered that his profile was gorgeous, but back then every bit of my attention was on Carter-I didn’t even check who he was.

He carried Carter. I walked beside them. Someone must’ve snapped this photo and posted it on the campus gossip page before it got deleted.

Miles’s phone wallpaper was exactly that picture. Only he’d blurred Carter out, leaving just me and

him.

That’s when I realized-his gaze had been on me the whole time, while mine was on the Carter on

his back.

My throat went tight. My nose stung. Seeing my eyes redden, Miles looked panicked.

“If you don’t like it, I’ll change it right now. It’s the only photo of us together and I saved it without

asking. I’m sorry…”

I lifted my phone, stood on tiptoe, and kissed his cheek. Freeze frame.

In the photo, Miles looked startled, his eyes all starlight and surprise-so gorgeous it hurt.

“Use this one. No one else.”

I swapped it for him, took his hand, and we walked.

The next morning, I pushed myself up from inside Miles’s arms.
