Grayson moved toward his father.

“What do you mean I may never see her again?”

Mr. Ashford Sr. did not answer.

Grayson’s voice became low.

“Did something happen to Vivian?”

The old man continued moving the prayer beads through his fingers.

“What happens to her is no longer your concern.”

“In a few days, I will arrange meetings with women from suitable families.”

“The position of Mrs. Ashford cannot stay empty.”

He signaled to the person behind his wheelchair.

They began to leave.

The wheels made almost no sound on the carpet.

Still, every turn felt heavy inside Grayson’s chest.

Lily stood to the side.

Anger shook through her.

Grayson had said he never stopped loving Vivian.

Now his father wanted him to meet other women.

Lily had given Grayson seven years.

Several housekeepers looked away.

“Answer me.”

Sweat appeared on the butler’s forehead.

“She had a serious asthma attack yesterday.”

“She was dead before she reached the hospital.”

Grayson’s hand slowly closed into a fist.

The butler froze.

Grayson’s voice sounded rough

“Every camera between the staff rooms and the garden.”

Lily grabbed his arm.

He looked down at her hand.

But she could not let him see the video.

Grayson pulled her fingers away one by one.

“If you try to stop me again, I will throw you out of this house.”

Lily stepped back.

Mrs. Warren held her chest.

She bent forward, unable to breathe.

Vivian moved toward the inhaler on the floor.

Then Lily bent down.

She picked it up first.

Vivian looked at her in horror.

Lily turned and walked toward the garden.

The next camera showed the dog pen.

Lily lifted her hand.

The white inhaler flew through the air.

It landed inside the fence, among the hunting dogs.
