I’d run into Matteo and Daphne kissing outside the office at lunch yesterday. 

I’d stayed eerily calm, walking straight past without even looking up. 

Matteo snapped. “Hey, don’t you say hello to people you 

know?” 

I answered calmly. “People I know? I thought I just saw two 

animals canoodling in broad daylight.‘ 

Matteo burned with anger, taking a step forward—but Daphne 

pulled him back. 

“Ignore her. She’s just miserable eating alone, with no 

boyfriend to keep her company.” 

My wolf snarled angrily, urging me to bite back. 

[That bitch! This isn’t over!] 

While my wolf raged, I stayed quiet… 

and ordered a tiny hidden camera. 

It was disguised in my necklace. I’d been live–streaming from 

the moment I’d walked into work. 

The camera caught Daphne’s cruel smile. 

“Look at you. After you stole Matteo from me, always trying to 

outdo me at the office–Faye, you’re done.” 

By the time Daphne tried to frame me, the live stream had 

exploded from a handful of viewers to tens of thousands. 

Comments shifted from confusion to fury, slamming Daphne 

as twisted and take. The chat blew up when Matteo tried to 

cover for her. 

[Ugh, what a disgusting guy. She gets falsely accused and stays quiet, but when your girlfriend’s lie is exposed, you pull that double standard and call it a ‘system glitch‘?]

The viral outrage forced the design firm to act. 

Within days, they announced Daphne’s termination. 

Because she’d damaged the firm’s reputation and lost clients and projects, she faced legal action and fines to pay. 

Matteo’s position was also on thin ice. 

The Alpha’s company valuation crashed, dragging down the entire Alpha family’s businesses. 

Matteo’s father flew into a rage, dragged him home and disciplined him harshly. 

It was said he used a thick wooden bat, hitting Matteo over a 

dozen times. 

Matteo blacked out, ended up in the pack hospital, and was 

bedridden for a month. 

The first thing he did when he woke up was call me. 

I didn’t answer, of course. He called every number he had for

I’d had enough, so I changed my number entirely. 

Meanwhile, job offers from new firms flooded my inbox. 

The day before I left, I ran into Rafael. 

He looked tired, his dark eyes fixed firmly on me. 

“You were with Matteo for so long… why won’t you give me a chance?” 

I paused. “Why should I?” 

I’d had good years with Matteo–before the real world, when I was naive and dreamed of pure love. 

He was a high–ranking Alpha, but he’d once let me live in his 

tiny basement apartment for under five hundred dollars a 

month. 

To preserve my pride, he’d taken me to cheap, filling street food for dates, even though he could have splurged on anything. 

Once I started working, I made enough not to worry about 

money. 

But our relationship had fatal flaws. 

He was sensitive, possessive, and flew into rages if I so much as spoke to another guy. 

I thought love and effort would hold us together, but it was never enough. 

A relationship takes two; it can’t work with just one person trying. 

Do I regret it? 

Sometimes. But not always.
