I Ran Away Carrying the Mafia King’s Child Chapter 05

The clinic curtain rustled open, and Nico walked in holding a thermal lunch box.

“Riley, the rain’s too heavy. I made dinner at home, I thought you might-”

His words died the second he laid eyes on Massimo.

Especially at the intimate, strange way Massimo was pressed to my stomach, Nico’s face turned

grim in an instant.

He hurried over, grabbed my arm, and pulled me behind him protectively.

“Who are you? Let her go!” Nico’s tone held the sharp alertness of a seasoned soldier.

Massimo straightened slowly.

He didn’t even glance at Nico, just tugged me out from behind him and pulled me firmly into his hold, a gentle yet unshakable claim in his grip.

Only then did he finally look at Nico, his stare ice-cold.

“I’m the father of her child.”

Massimo’s casual declaration drained all the color from Nico’s face.

His eyes flicked to the lunch box in Nico’s hand, then back to me, a mocking smirk tugging at his

lips.

“I see. I leave for a few months, and Dr. Ferraro’s been keeping herself quite entertained.”

I turned cold all over, rushing to explain. “It’s not like that! Nico’s just my boss. He’s only looking out for me because I’m pregnant and alone…”

“Pregnant?” Massimo cut me off, his tone dangerous. “Do you even act like you’re carrying my

child?”

He gripped my chin, forcing me to look straight at him.

“You know you’re pregnant, yet you run off to this godforsaken nowhere town? Live in this run-down little house? Eat this garbage that’s barely fit to feed anyone?”

His gaze swept over the lopsided, half-cooked soup I’d made.

“Riley, did you plan on hiding here with my child and building a life with another man?”

I had no words to defend myself.

Nico frowned. “Sir, speak to Riley with some respect.”

“Respect?” Massimo let out a humorless laugh. “I’m talking to the mother of my child. This doesn’t concern you.”

He let go of me, walked over to the pot of soup, stirred it once with the spoon, and tossed it back

down with obvious disgust.

“Pack your things.”

He turned back to me, issuing an order with unyielding authority.

“You’re coming back to Velmora with me.”

I balled my hands into fists, staring back at him stubbornly. “I’m not going.”

“What did you say?” Massimo narrowed his eyes, stepping closer.

“I said I’m staying!” I summoned every ounce of courage I had. “I’m happy here. I’m not leaving.”

I wasn’t stupid. Going back meant walking straight into a trap.

“Fine. Perfect.” Massimo smiled, sharp with rage.

He wasted no time pulling out his phone and making a call.

“Buy the entire building outside.”

“Now. Immediately.”

“Then bulldoze it to the ground.”

Nico’s expression paled with shock. “You can’t do that! There are other families living here!”

“Are there?” Massimo hung up, glancing at him coldly. “Then they can thank Dr. Ferraro for getting them brand new homes.”

I stared at the overbearing man in front of me, wanting to bury myself in embarrassment. Did he seriously act like a clichéd billionaire novel villain?

“I’ll go with you.” I finally relented.

A triumphant smirk crossed Massimo’s lips.

He slipped off his trench coat and draped it over my shoulders without asking.

The coat still held his body heat and a faint crisp scent of sandalwood.

“Riley!” Nico called out, trying to stop me.

Massimo already had an arm around my waist, guiding me toward the door.

As we passed Nico, Massimo paused, glancing sideways to drop a cold warning.

“Stay away from my woman. Or I won’t hesitate to break your other leg too.”

He guided me into the back of the Maybach with firm, insistent hands, and the car door slammed shut heavily in front of me.
