Declan moved into the room next to mine.

After the product launch, he seemed to have a lot of free time.

Every morning while I filmed my content, I’d see him wearing a robe, holding a watering can, watering flowers through the fence.

I suspected he was showing off. Because when the morning light hit him at that angle, with that pose, he looked unreal. Like some forest monk straight out of a fantasy movie.

After he’d watered that bush almost to death, I walked over to him.

Then I leaned lightly against the fence and quickly signed a check for twenty thousand dollars.

I gave him a wicked smile. “Do you want to be my ‘arrangement’?”

Even though, at this point in the disaster, there wasn’t even a “one that got away.”

This tangerine was a little sour.

Declan rubbed his temples. “I picked up my cousin that night.”

When I heard “cousin,” I froze.
