I Planned My Exit The Moment His Loyalty Score Began To Fall Chapter 10

I waved to Luna. “Let’s go–we’re heading to the playground.”

Luna struggled to get out of Ethan’s arms: “Daddy, we’re going to the playground to play. I’ll come find you later.”

By the time we got back from the playground, Ethan had already left.

Summer had a fever and called him in tears. Without a moment’s hesitation, he booked the earliest flight

home to take care of her.

Molly sent me a screenshot of Summer’s social media post.

Ethan was wearing an apron and cooking porridge for her in the kitchen. The caption read: “It feels so good

to be spoiled.”

Molly said, “Mrs. Hale, I was planning to try to talk you out of it before, but now I think it’s for the best that

you’re getting a divorce!”

I never expected that three days later, Ethan would actually agree to a divorce.

He called me from a new number and said the divorce agreement had already been signed.

“All the assets are yours, the house is yours, and you get custody of our daughter. I’m walking away with

nothing.”

His voice was full of exhaustion.

“I tore up the previous divorce agreement. When are you coming back so we can sign a new one?”

I was completely shocked.

“Ethan, didn’t you always disagree with this before?”

Ethan gave a soft chuckle over the phone–a chuckle that held so many nuances I couldn’t quite fathom.

So I booked a flight that same day to go back.

Willa stopped me: “Ethan isn’t planning some kind of dirty trick, is he?”

Although I hesitated, I decided to go back and see what was going on.

By the time I got home, it was already dark. I pushed open the door and was hit by a strong smell of cigarette

smoke.

The lights in the living room were off, but I could faintly make out a figure sitting on the couch.

I turned on the light and saw only Ethan sitting alone on the couch. The ashtray on the coffee table was full of cigarette butts.

Ethan had quit smoking five years ago–I never expected he’d started again.

When he saw me, he gave a wry smile.

“My mom will be here soon to pick up Luna. Let’s have a good talk.”

Luna also sensed that something was off. This time, instead of rushing toward Ethan like she usually did, she just called out “Daddy” softly.

While I was packing up in the room, my mother–in–law arrived.

She glanced at Ethan briefly, then beckoned to Luna: “Grandma’s taking you out for ice cream.”

Luna skipped away, led by my mother–in–law.

Silence fell over the room. Ethan pushed a signed divorce agreement toward me.

“I’ve already signed it.”

I looked up at him.

The number on his head had actually risen to 87%.

In just three days.

What on earth happened?

I furrowed my brow and stared at Ethan. He had heavy dark circles under his eyes, unshaven stubble on his chin, and his hair was a mess–it looked like he hadn’t washed it in days.

“Ethan, why did you suddenly agree to the divorce?”

His eyes instantly reddened. He bit his lower lip hard and said tremblingly, “I… I’m sorry to you. I’m sorry to Luna.”

“It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have been tempted by a fleeting novelty; I lost my head; I didn’t know her true character!”

Only then did I realize that on the night Ethan made porridge for Summer, they’d slept together.
