“It wasn’t him! You just found a random person to help your case!”

That man, James Swift, did not want to admit it either. He kept saying that he would report me to the police.

I smiled and said, “Don’t worry. I’ll get him to speak.”

Adam immediately severed his pinky. James yelled in pain, and Mandy screamed in fear.

“William…” She gulped.

“Just let it slide. I’m afraid. Let’s go back, please? Jade is insane.”

“No. What if you threaten to commit suicide again and blame it on me when you go back? Adam, keep going. If he doesn’t speak, just cut off all ten of his fingers.”

James peed his pants out of fear. He collapsed to the floor and cried, “I’ll tell you the truth, I’ll tell you everything!

“I didn’t kidnap Mandy. She’s my wife. We…”

“Ah!” Mandy screamed and rushed to pull at his hair. “Nonsense! Stop framing me!”

I waved, and Adam covered Mandy’s mouth with his hand so that she could stop talking.

James continued cautiously, “Mandy and I had a wedding and then a child. We just never registered our marriage officially. She kept saying that I was poor. After that, she managed to get with Mr. Anderson.

“She lied to him about the blood transfusion. I was afraid that the truth would come out one day and that my child would have no mother, so I secretly kidnapped her. I didn’t expect her to run away again.”

He glared at Mandy as he spoke.

“I took advantage of her? She was the one who seduced me so that I would let down my guard. That way, she could escape.”

When James mentioned the blood transfusion, William froze.

He turned to look at Mandy and asked in a trembling voice, “Wasn’t it you who donated blood to me? Who was it, then? Why did you lie to me?”

Mandy shook her head in tears. She wanted to explain herself but she could not speak.

She just looked increasingly guilty. In the end, she dared not meet his gaze.

“It was Ms. Anderson who donated her blood to you. She even fainted back then. It took her two weeks to recover.”

Adam sighed.

“I didn’t expect you to think that Mandy was your savior. If she saved you, how would Ms. Anderson not know about her presence?”

William swayed and propped himself up using the table.

Fear gripped him, and his mind went blank.

If Jade was the one who had saved him, what had he been doing all along?

I stood up. “Since the truth is out, I’ll make a move. Austin’s coming back soon. He’ll be anxious if he doesn’t see me.”

“Jade!”

William stumbled and rushed toward me. He grabbed my wrist with teary eyes.

He was on the verge of breaking down as he asked, “Why? You’re the one who saved me. Why didn’t you tell me? Why?”

“Why would my wife tell you that?”

Austin rushed forward and kicked him in anger. He then possessively wrapped his arms around me.

“Are you an idiot? You fell in love with your caretaker just because you’re injured and believed in whatever she said. Would you fall in love with the cook when you eat in the future?

“Your love is worthless. Stop disgusting my wife anymore.”

I did not expect William to cry.

He always cared about his image. However, he was lying on the floor sobbing and breaking down.

“If you’d have told me earlier, I wouldn’t have…”

“Austin is right, your love is worthless. You gave up on our twelve-year long relationship over someone’s lie.

“You’re so cold that I felt even strangers were treating me better than you did.”

William said in a trembling voice, “No, Jade. The person I truly like is you; it’s you! I was lied to by Mandy.

“She cried and said she didn’t want to live anymore. She said her family was forcing her to marry a violent man. I felt bad and agreed. Then I did not dare to admit to myself that I love you. I was wrong!”

He crawled toward me and grabbed my ankle.
