I Froze the Shares Before He Could Give Them Away Chapter 09

Beatrice’s voice was shaking.

“What Sterling trust? That money belongs to the Vances! I was the one who sold the ancestral home

to save the company!”

Margaret looked at her.

“Old Mrs. Vance, the ancestral home in your name was seized and auctioned by the bank seven years ago. The sale price was less than $30 million, and the proceeds were used to repay your personal debts. The records are right here.”

The screen switched again.

The red seals were unmistakable.

Beatrice’s body swayed.

She gripped the table, her lips trembling.

I looked at her.

In my last life, she held that same cane when she kicked me out of the house.

She had said, “Eleanor, don’t blame me for being heartless. If a woman can’t have children, she should make way for someone who can.”

The door had locked behind me.

I had stood at the Vance gates, the winter wind cutting my face like a knife. I was still wearing the wedding ring, and it had choked my finger until it turned purple. I had pulled the brooch from my bag, only to find the pin had snapped and stabbed into my palm.

I didn’t cry that day.

Because the tears were frozen in my eyes and couldn’t fall.

I wasn’t crying now, either.

I simply took the wedding ring out of my bag and placed it on the voided Deed of Gift.

“Richard,” I said. “The bill for the home you wanted has arrived.”

The police walked in ten minutes later.

Chloe tried to leave through the side door with Leo, but was stopped.

She screamed that the child was young and shouldn’t be frightened.

An investigator showed her an account freeze notice.

“Mrs. Davis, you are suspected of setting up shell companies in a minor’s name to transfer funds from Vance Enterprises. Please cooperate.”

The color drained from Chloe’s face bit by bit.

Leo was crying so hard he could barely breathe.

I looked away.

The child was innocent.

But innocence was not a pass to steal what was mine.

Richard rushed over to stop the investigators.

“How much did she transfer?”

No one answered him.

Margaret answered for them.

“Currently, $36 million in off-book funds has been verified, and two offshore transfers are being tracked. Richard, if you didn’t know, it means your mistress played you. If you did know, you are a co-conspirator.”

Richard looked at Chloe.

Chloe shook her head, crying.

“Richard, I did it for our future. You said the Vance family would belong to Leo sooner or later; I was just saving a little for him in advance.”

“He’s not my son!”

Richard yelled those words with immense force.

Leo was so terrified he stopped crying.

Every camera in the hall recorded it.

Chloe froze completely.

She finally stopped pretending.

“Now you’re complaining that he’s not your son?” She laughed, shaking. “Richard, why didn’t you say that when you were in bed with me? Why didn’t you say that when you needed me to help you force Eleanor to give up her shares? Do you think you’re such a great guy?”

Richard’s face was livid.

Before Chloe was taken away, she looked back at me.

There was hatred in her eyes, but also fear.

I didn’t flinch.

Every penny she took in my last life would be vomited back up.

Beatrice fainted when she heard the Board’s temporary resolution.

The resolution was simple.

Due to significant disputes over the control of Vance Enterprises and the ownership of trust assets, Richard Vance’s associated voting rights were immediately frozen, Beatrice Vance was suspended from her board seat pending an independent investigation into her suspected involvement in fraudulent asset narratives and interference with equity gifting.

As the paramedics carried her out, she was still clutching Richard’s sleeve.

“Richard, don’t let the Vance family be destroyed by her…”

Richard didn’t answer.

He stood there as if his spine had been removed overnight.

I walked past him.

He suddenly grabbed my

wrist.

“Eleanor.”
