I Froze for 4 Hours Outside While He Threw a Party with Her Chapter 03

It wasn’t that I hadn’t noticed the changes in Julian.

The car would reach the garage, but he would sit inside it for a long time before coming upstairs.

We’d exchange barely two sentences before he’d say he was tired and turn his back to me.

I had wondered if he was dealing with something difficult.

But I discovered that he just seemed to be, simply, more and more impatient with me, more and more neglectful of me.

I began to fear losing him.

The more I feared, the more sensitive I became. The harder I tried to hold on, the faster he slipped away.

After that night when he came home wrapped in that scent, Julian and I fought constantly.

But in argument after argument, Julian’s attitude grew colder and colder. Eventually, the moment I started talking, he would just put on his headphones and pretend not to hear, or simply leave.

I chased after him, tore off his headphones, tears streaming down my face.

“Julian, do you think I want to fight with you?”

“I can’t see a shred of care from you for me right now. I just want you to explain, to comfort me a little. Is that so hard?”

“Is it?”

I was begging him to stay, so humbly.

“What is wrong with you? Did I do something wrong?”

“Can we just talk, please?”

Julian said nothing. He snatched back his headphones and put them on again.

He said, “Do whatever you want.”

Mia’s voice from the bedroom, laughing and telling Julian to stop fooling around, interrupted my memories.

I restrained myself from looking back anymore.

I also restrained every subconscious impulse to reach for Julian.

I went home alone. I ate alone. I slept alone.

I was gradually getting used to it. What I never expected was that my family would go to find Julian.

They said they had tried to meet with him several times but couldn’t get through.

When I arrived, my grandmother was already apologizing profusely to Julian.

Her posture was pleading, and Julian accepted it as if it were only right. He could even add,

“If only Stella were as reasonable as you, Grandma.”

There wasn’t a single seat for my grandmother in the entire place. She stood there awkwardly and shamefully in front of Julian.

“Julian, I’d been wanting to say a few words to you ever since I saw that video.”

“But I was never able to see you. So that’s why I came today.”

“I’ll just say a few words and then leave. I won’t disturb you.”

“Truly, I’m sorry. For the things Stella did wrong, I’ll apologize on her behalf.”

“Consider it Grandma begging you. Please stop being angry with Stella.”

His so-called friends egged him on. “How much is your old face worth? One word of pleading and he’s supposed to just stop being angry?”

My eyes felt like they were about to split open.

I rushed in, grabbed my grandmother, and just wanted to leave.

Grandma stroked my back. “Stella, you have to talk things through nicely.”

My throat felt like it was full of sand. I couldn’t hold it back anymore.

“You said you stood in line for half an hour after work to buy me that cake. You waited in the car. It was your assistant who bought it.”

“The assistant bought mango flavor. I’m allergic to mango. How was I supposed to eat it?”

“You said I locked the bedroom door. Why don’t you mention the messages I sent you that you pretended not to see? The calls I made that you hung up on every single one?”

“You had time to hang up calls, but you couldn’t spare one second to tell me what time you’d be home.”

“You said I wouldn’t tell you what I wanted to eat. But I booked a restaurant a whole day in advance and told you. You agreed perfectly well. You were the one who forgot.”

“You said you ordered a meal. But I don’t eat spicy food. There wasn’t a single dish you ordered that I could eat.”

“You said I wasn’t happy about your friend coming over. That ‘friend’ you talk about—she confessed her feelings to you. After I caught her kissing you, you promised me you wouldn’t have any contact with her anymore.”

“Julian, I don’t even want to argue with you about these things anymore. There’s no point.”

“What gives you the right to still put on this act in front of my grandmother and make things difficult for her?”

The last sentence was practically a roar. Julian’s body couldn’t help but straighten a little in his seat.
