I Found Out I Was the Real Daughter Before the SAT So I Tanked It Chapter 09

After score release, Dad spent three straight days in bed without eating or drinking.

In the end, he finally dragged himself up and decided to investigate.

He refused to believe I had really scored only a 400.

More importantly, he refused to believe that the daughter who had always been obedient and

well-behaved could suddenly turn into this.

He knew very well how much I cared about the SAT and how badly I had wanted to earn Mom and Dad’s approval through my grades.

That was the only thread he could still cling to.

!

He checked the testing center security footage, questioned my school adviser, and finally dug up the home security footage. On the morning of the SAT, I had come home and stood outside the study for a long time.

He called me over.

“That day… why did you come back?” he asked, swallowing hard.

“To get my SAT admission ticket,” I answered honestly.

He stared at me for a long time before asking, “Did you hear your mother and me talking?”

I shrugged. “What did you talk about?”

His brows loosened slightly. Then he asked, “Tell me the truth. Why did you get a 400?”

“Dad, I already told you. That 400 is how I’m repaying you and Mom for those eighteen years.”

“Nonsense!” He slapped the desk, his brows twisting together as his eyes swept over my face again and again. “Tell me honestly. Did someone threaten you? Did someone stop you from taking the exam properly?”

“Your mother and I watched you grow up. You’re not stupid. There’s no way you would…”

I said nothing.

The more he thought about it, the stranger it seemed to him. He began pacing back and forth in the

study.

On the fourth day, he finally received an envelope. It contained the information he had called in

favors at school to obtain.

Inside was a stack of screenshots from group chats.

[Made that fake heiress cry again today, hahaha.]

[Does she dare tell on me? If she does, Mom and Dad will send her back to that rural backwater.]

[I pushed her down the stairs today. She cried in the nurse’s office all afternoon. I’m dying

laughing.]

[I took pictures of her. Want to see?]

Beside him, Mom’s face went deathly pale as she read them. Her hands shook so badly she could barely hold the papers.

“No… That’s impossible. Willa is so thoughtful. She loves Annalise. She would never do something like this…”

In Mom and Dad’s eyes, Willa was the sweetest daughter in the world.

When her grades were bad, she would put on a sweet little act, wrap her arms around Mom’s neck, and say, “You work so hard, Mom.”

At every family gathering, she would make sure the older relatives were served, raise polite little toasts, and charm everyone with sweet words.

With me, the sister she supposedly wasn’t related to, she would loop her arm through mine and

“Good luck on your exam today, Annalise.”

say,

She would give me the chicken drumstick from her own plate.

When I was punished and made to kneel, she would secretly slip me a pillow.

How thoughtful.

So thoughtful that everyone believed I was the ungrateful one.

Dad frowned and went straight upstairs. He found Willa’s phone in her room.

The password was her birthday. Once he opened it, he saw that she had not deleted a single chat

record.

There was also a photo album, locked and encrypted.

He pressed Willa’s sleeping finger to the sensor and unlocked it.

Inside were photos of me being bullied-slapped, splashed with water, and cornered in the

bathroom.

In one photo, I was lying on the floor with my clothes torn and tears all over my face.

Dad smashed the phone onto the floor, then slapped Willa hard across the face.
