I Found My Boyfriend Signing As Another Woman’s Husband Chapter 08

Caleb started digging.

He went to the hospital and asked for Kaylee’s attending physician.

The doctor was on leave.

So he tracked down the younger doctor covering her cases. He pressured him, coaxed him, and eventually

paid him off.

He got the records.

That so-called congenital heart condition had stabilized long ago. All those frequent “episodes” were fake.

Every single one had happened at the exact moments he planned to come see me.

He kept digging.

That drunken night six months ago? The hotel surveillance confirmed he had blacked out.

But the baby Kaylee was carrying wasn’t conceived that night. The timeline was off by three full weeks.

It had been artificial insemination.

Planned. Calculated. Every detail lined up so he would walk straight into the trap.

Caleb sat in his car with the test reports in his hands, from afternoon until nightfall.

Then he went to Kaylee’s place and threw the papers in her face.

“I pushed her away because of your lies. I killed my own child with my own hands.” His voice shook, his eyes

bloodshot. “What are you going to do to make that right?”

Kaylee stared at the scattered papers on the floor.

She stayed silent for about five seconds.

Then she laughed.

Not crying. Laughing.

Sharp, Harsh. Almost hysterical.

“I ruined her?” She leaned back on the couch, one hand resting on her stomach, laughing until tears

streamed down her face. “Who are you kidding, Caleb? If you really loved her, would my lies have worked on

you?”

“You’re greedy. You liked having two women depend on you. You liked feeling like the good guy. You wanted

everything, and you refused to let anything go. You and I are the same.”

Caleb stood there like he’d been nailed to the ground.

He opened his mouth to argue.

Not a single word came out.

Because she was right.

His excuses were nothing but weakness.

His so-called responsibility was just vanity.

When he pushed me away, it wasn’t instinct.

It was a choice.

He chose the one who cried louder.

Caleb cut off all financial support to Kaylee and moved out.

That weekend, Julian took Mia and me camping outside the city.

While setting up the tent, my hand slipped. The metal pole sliced a small cut across my fingertip.

It wasn’t deep. Just a bead of blood.

I was about to wipe it off when Julian was already crouching in front of me.

He dropped to one knee, pulled a small first aid kit from his bag, and carefully disinfected the cut.

His movements were gentle, like he was handling something fragile.

Mia crouched nearby, chin in her hands, watching. “Dad, you treat Clara better than you treat me.”

Julian didn’t look up. A faint smile tugged at his lips. “You don’t cut yourself. That helps.”

I watched his lowered lashes, the quiet focus in his expression, and felt something unfamiliar rise in my

chest.

Not attraction.

Something steadier.

A sense of safety.

The feeling of being someone’s first priority, without question.

I had never felt that before.

Across the road in the distance, inside a parked car, Caleb gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned white. One of his nails snapped, blood seeping into the leather.

He bent forward, burying his face in his arms, letting out a low, broken sound.
