After we made up, Lucas became completely devoted.

According to Ethan, he was practically possessed.

To spend more time with me, Lucas bought a penthouse downtown.

Whenever I had a day off, he came to pick me up without fail.

One morning, I slept until noon.

Lucas walked into the bedroom and scooped me up with a fond smile.

He kissed my hair as I blinked sleepily.

“Time to eat, baby.”

“You can go back to sleep afterward.”

“I’m not going back to sleep.”

I rubbed my eyes.

“Is Ethan coming over later?”

Lucas nodded.

“He’s on his way. He said traffic is bad.”

I stayed still for several seconds, still groggy.

Before I could react, Lucas carried me into the bathroom and set me on the vanity.

He squeezed toothpaste onto my toothbrush, just as he had done a hundred times before.

“Open up, baby.”

I did as I was told.

Lucas grinned and brushed my teeth with practiced ease.

Once he finished helping me, he pinched my cheek and stole a kiss.

“Why do I love taking care of you so much?”

“How are you this cute?”

His low, husky voice made warmth spread through my chest.

I tilted my head and kissed him.

He kissed me back and immediately deepened it.

Just when things were getting heated, the front door clicked open.

Ethan’s loud voice rang through the penthouse.

“Lucas, your favorite person has arrived.”

“Where’s my welcome party?”

Lucas pulled back, visibly annoyed by the interruption.

I laughed and held my arms out to him.

“Carry me, babe.”

He raised an eyebrow, clearly pleased, and lifted me into his arms.

In the living room, Ethan watched me cling to Lucas like a koala and looked away in disgust.

“Lily, did you break both arms and both legs?”

“Can you get off him?”

“Nope.”

I nuzzled into Lucas’s neck.

He chuckled.

“Alright. Let’s eat.”

At the table, Lucas and I fed each other as if Ethan weren’t there.

My brother watched us for a while before finally slamming down his fork.

“This is disgusting.”

“Do you two have to be like this while I’m eating?”

I stuck my tongue out at him.

“What’s disgusting about it?”

“Everything.”

Ethan glared at us.

Lucas said nothing.

He simply smiled and handed me a napkin.

Ethan snatched it before I could take it.

I glared at him.

“Don’t you have hands?”

“Nope.”

He grinned.

“Can’t my future brother-in-law do me a favor?”

I gritted my teeth.

Fine.

He was impossible.

A few minutes later, Ethan dumped an entire bowl of crab meat into his own plate.

I nearly cried.

“Hey! Lucas peeled that for me.”

“What, I can’t eat some of your food?”

Ethan rolled his eyes.

Then he turned to Lucas with a lecturing expression.

“I told you two to date.”

“I didn’t tell you to spoil her until she becomes unbearable.”

“Even Mom wouldn’t put up with this attitude.”

Was that any way to talk about his sister?

I fumed.

Lucas only shrugged.

“So?”

“I like spoiling my girlfriend.”

“Do you have a problem with that?”

Ethan couldn’t get through to him.

Eventually, he gave up and went into the game room.

When he came out for a drink, he stopped and stared at me.

“Wait.”

“You were impossible online, but now you’re all over him.”

“What happened?”

“Did someone replace you?”

My face turned red.

“If you’re this jealous, go find a girlfriend.”

“A single man like you wouldn’t understand.”

Lucas had just finished working on a paper and walked out of the office.

He immediately backed me up.

“She’s right, Ethan.”

“If it bothers you that much, get a girlfriend.”

“And hurry up and leave. I’m taking my girl to the movies.”

Ethan laughed in disbelief.

The frustration radiating off him could have powered the entire building.

Before slamming the door on his way out, he defended himself.

“With a face like mine, I could get any girlfriend I wanted.”
