I Did A Wedding Survey, And Exposed My Ten-Year-Long Love Betrayal Chapter 06

With that, Trevor was the first out of the hotel, speeding toward the apartment.

He reached the building, and even before he got through the door, he started shouting:

“Clara! Clara Bennett!”

But no one answered.

The empty apartment echoed his calls back at him–just the sound of her name bouncing off the

walls.

Like it was mocking him.

He looked around the place in a daze. It felt so empty.

Everything that had to do with me was gone.

He suddenly remembered–a week ago, he’d seen me at home, and it looked like I was packing.

But back then, his mind had been full of Lila. He hadn’t paid attention.

So I’d left that same day?

It hit him then–how little he’d been paying attention to me.

How did this happen?

I was the one he loved most. The one he’d loved since he was eighteen. The one he wanted to spend

his life with.

Why had he slowly let me slip away?

His mind drifted to Lila.

He and Lila started with an accident.

Six years ago, her father had pushed her into their company as Trevor’s assistant.

All the hurt I’d gone through as a kid came from Lila.

So naturally, he kept his distance.

But she never seemed to mind.

She was there every day, fussing over him, bringing him lunch, joining him for drinks at business

dinners…

He never accepted it, but little by little, he started to see her differently.

Then one time, he took her to a dinner, they both got drunk, and things happened.

After that, everything spun out of control.

He’d planned to keep it from me.

Lila was just something new–not love. She wouldn’t threaten what he had with me.

But then she got pregnant.

His family pressured him, and he had no choice but to get the marriage certificate with her,

And that was what finally made him agree to a wedding with me.

But when Lila found out, she acted generous about it–and somehow, that made him feel like she was the one being wronged.

So he went ahead and gave her a wedding first.

He never imagined I’d show up at the venue.

I found out everything.

And then I walked away.

The moment that thought surfaced, Trevor couldn’t hold himself up anymore. He collapsed to the

floor.

He didn’t know how long passed before the doorbell rang.

Trevor’s head shot up. He staggered to the door.

“Clara–you came back-”

The words died in his throat.

It was Grant and Paige standing outside.

“Did you find her?”

Grant and Paige exchanged a look–both of them filled with regret.

“We didn’t find Clara. But we found out something else.”

“Lila… no, Lila Bennett–she was never pregnant!”

“What?”

“Not only that. The fall she took that day–she set it up herself. Clara had nothing to do with it.”

Grant was agitated. He pulled out his phone and played a video.

‘s from the house cameras. I was looking for clues about that day. I never expected this…”

In the video, Lila was talking to her mother.

When she mentioned me, her face twisted with contempt.

“That idiot Clara–I threw coffee on her myself and pushed her, and she still came crawling in to

donate blood for me.”

“Good thing you were smart enough to fake a pregnancy and get Trevor on our side. Now everyone’s standing with us.”

“Honestly, if I didn’t enjoy watching Clara squirm so much, I wouldn’t even bother with her brother or that pathetic friend of hers. A few sweet words and they fell for it. Being around people

like that just lowers my IQ.”

“Anyway, just make sure you keep Trevor close. The family business depends on him.”

“I know. Now that Clara’s out of the picture, Trevor’s practically mine.”

The video ended. The three of them stood there in silence for a long time.

They never would have guessed that sweet, innocent Lila was actually this calculating behind the

scenes.

And they’d pushed away the person closest to them–all for her.

A ringtone broke the silence.

Trevor grabbed his phone and hit answer.

“Did you find her?”

On the other end, Dylan’s voice stumbled.

“Trevor… we didn’t find her.”

“But… my supervisor told me that a week ago, Clara was forced to give blood… and she… she

miscarried.”
