I Caught My Don Husband Cheating With My 18-Year Best Friend At The Car Chapter 05

I Caught My Don Husband Cheating With My 18-Year Best Friend At The Car Chapter 05

The screen came on.

Someone in the audience chuckled, probably thinking it was an anniversary video montage.

But no.

It was a PowerPoint, over thirty pages long.

As the first slide appeared, the applause died down.

Because it was screenshots of the Romano estate’s Wi-Fi device connection history.

Three months of login data, organized into clean tables.

Lucy’s phone model and MAC address were highlighted in bright red.

May 12, Wednesday, 11:47 AM to 8:35 PM.

May 25, Monday, 10:03 AM to 6:11 PM.

June 3, Saturday, 1:15 PM to 11:42 AM the next day.

Next to every date, my own check-in records lined up perfectly-charity galas I’d attended, or days I was locked in the secure records room at headquarters going over family ledgers.

That time in June when Lucy was at the estate? I was down at Rosso Harbour, negotiating till midnight to

lock down a shipping route.

My hotel records, meeting minutes-all lined up on the right side of the slide.

Murmurs spread fast through the theater.

The slides kept going.

Lucy’s selfie blew up to fill the whole screen.

Head tilted, phone covering half her face, grinning.

Behind her, the little suit doll was circled perfectly in red.

Right next to it, a comparison photo of the actual doll in the estate.

Same position. Same angle. Same background. Exact match.

The photo’s date popped up next.

June 10th.

My schedule appeared on screen right then.

That day, I’d been in Silverport representing the Romano family at a partnership meeting. Didn’t get back to

Crest City till 11 PM.

I never invited Lucy over.

So-who let her through the estate gates?

“Oh my god, why was Lucy even there…”

Someone in the front row whispered to the person next to them.

“Who else but Don could get the guards to wave her right in?”

“They totally betrayed Donna together.”

Lorenzo stepped forward, reaching for my hand, but I pulled away.

Before he could say anything, I played the next clip.

This time, dash cam footage.

The date and time stamped on the video lined up perfectly with the parking records.

First came the sound of a car door closing.

Then shoes being kicked off, followed by a sigh.

Lucy’s voice filled the entire theater.

“When are you finally gonna break this to Mia?”

Her tone was casual, like she’d asked the question a hundred times before.

Lorenzo’s voice came a moment later.

“…Just wait a little longer.”

“Wait for what? Till she stumbles on the truth? Or until you man up and file for divorce?”

A loud thud came through the speakers, like something had been tossed onto the seat.

Then Lucy’s voice shifted completely.

“You don’t love her anymore. What are you even waiting for? You want me to go tell her myself?”

I hit pause on the recording right there.

The theater went dead silent for a few seconds-then the whispers exploded, coming from every direction.

The media outlets invited tonight finally realized it.

This wasn’t an anniversary celebration.

This was a very public revenge for betrayal.

One bold reporter stood up and called out to me.

Ms. Scutt, when did you discover Mr. Romano’s affair? And how’d you uncover all this proof?”

The color drained from Lorenzo’s face, slow at first, then all at once.

He stared at me like he still couldn’t process what was happening.

I held the microphone steady.

“Since everyone’s curious, let me tell you all. Lucy and I have been best friends for eighteen years…”

“Mia! That’s not what happened, you’ve got it all wrong!”

Lucy was panicking bad.

I didn’t stop.

“Lorenzo and I got married after dating for two years. As for when they started betraying me? I’m just as in the dark as all of you. If you’re that interested, ask them yourselves.”

“And as for when I found out-on our drive back from the Christmas trip, right there in Mr. Romano’s car.”

“I found out my best friend was dating my husband!”

“Lucy. You say I’ve got it wrong.

Her shoulders jerked. She looked up at me.

I held the microphone closer.

“Then tell me-what’s the real truth?”
