I Canceled My Wedding and Married Someone Else Chapter 09

On the day of the wedding, Josh slipped past security and forced his way into the dressing room.

The moment he saw me in my wedding gown, he froze. For a heartbeat, it looked as if he were seeing a haunting reflection of the bride I should have been for him.

“Josh,” I said calmly, “you shouldn’t be here.”

He took several deep breaths, fighting to steady himself. His eyes glistened with something

between desperation and grief.

“Sierra… I really didn’t cheat.”

“I was fooled by the way Tiffany acted pitiful. On the wedding day, she told me if she didn’t auction herself off, her parents would sell her to some old bachelor back in their hometown.”

“I just wanted to help her. I never slept with her. She lied to you. The kid wasn’t mine. From start to finish, I only loved you. I’ve always been loyal to you.”

He looked at me with hopeful eyes, waiting for a miracle. I stared back, cold and unmoved. A sigh slipped from my lips, sharp with impatience.

“So what?” I said quietly. “Josh, I stopped loving you a long time ago. Now, I love my husband.”

Josh’s world cracked. His expression collapsed into raw devastation.

“You don’t love me anymore? Carl erased our seven years together in just one? I don’t believe that, Sierra. You told me you loved me. Don’t marry him. You told me you loved me!”

My fist tightened, and then, my hand whipped across his face. A bright, angry red bloomed on his cheek. He stared at me, stunned, as if his entire belief system had been shattered.

“Are you awake now?”

That slap shattered every last illusion he’d clung to, like he had torn out his heart and offered it to

someone he adored, only for her to throw it to the ground, stomp on it, and say.

“Too filthy. It makes me sick.”

Josh looked at me, lips drained of color, eyes hollowing out. “You don’t love me anymore…

The ceremony began. I walked down the aisle one steady step at a time. Carl stood waiting, his eyes shimmering like constellations, overflowing with love, reverence, and unspoken promises.

When I placed my hand into his, something in his chest broke open. Carl gripped my hand tightly,

breath uneven with emotion.

“Sweetheart,” he whispered, voice trembling, “I really get to marry you.”

I smiled and lifted my lips to his. The hall erupted into applause and cheers as we kissed.

In the corner, Josh stared at us, at the new husband and wife locked in an embrace of absolute

devotion.

A metallic taste flooded his mouth. When our eyes met for a fraction of a second, his body gave out.

A strangled cry escaped him, his body finally buckling under the weight of a regret that would haunt him forever. Guests rushed toward him in alarm.

Carl instinctively tightened his hold on my hand. I turned, sinking into his arms, whispering softly

“Carl… Every tomorrow I have belongs to you.”
