I Called the Don My Future Brother-in-Law. He Called Me His Chapter 11

“Sera…”

In the hospital room, my mother looked at me, hesitant to speak.

Actually, I knew what she wanted to ask.

I peeled the clementine in my hands and kept my voice as calm as possible.

“Mom, ask whatever you want to ask.”

My mother hesitated for a long time before finally speaking.

“What exactly is going on between you and that Rafe?”

I continued peeling the clementine.

“Nothing.”

“We were just high school classmates.”

Out of the corner of my eye, I caught sight of a shadow outside the hospital room door. I paused,

then added one more sentence.

“That’s all.”

My mother looked at me and did not ask anything else.

Only after she fell asleep did I leave the room.

Sure enough, Rafe had been waiting outside the whole time.

I walked out in silence.

He followed behind me the entire way, matching me step for step.

He looked like a stray dog hoping to be taken home.

But who would believe that Manhattan’s most unhinged mafia prince could ever look like this?

The parking lot was quiet.

The sound of our footsteps seemed especially clear.

He knew I had a fiancé, yet he kept clinging to me.

Was he becoming exactly the kind of person he hated most?

I was like a hedgehog covered in sharp spines, thinking this might hurt him a little.

But Rafe looked completely unconcerned.

“Perfect.”

He looked down at me.

“His mother stole my mother’s man.’

“I’ll steal her son’s woman.”

He seemed to think about it seriously for a moment, then gave a soft laugh.

“A mother’s debt should be paid by her son.”

He stood beneath the cold white lights of the parking lot in an expensive black suit, polished and

unhinged.

A few sparse stars hung in the night above him, falling into his dark eyes and somehow making

them look almost bright.

“Besides, everything comes down to who was there first.”

“I met you first.”

“So Elias is the one who came later.”

“If you insist on thinking I’m the other man, fine.”

Rafe lowered his head and leaned closer to me, his tone as open and calm as if he were announcing a

family decree.

“Then I, Rafe Vittori, will be the other man for love just this once.”

A completely unreasonable argument sounded like the truth when it came from him.

Rafe was not a good man.

And I was no innocent saint either.

At that moment, I was not thinking about him.

I was not thinking about Elias, either.

I was thinking about Celeste.

Suddenly, I really wanted to see what expression she would make if I took Rafe from her again.

So for the first time since our reunion, I took the initiative and stepped closer to Rafe.

The emotion in his eyes changed instantly.

There was unease in his eyes.

There was nervousness.

And there was expectation he could not hide.

I stopped in front of him, raised my hand, and adjusted his collar. My fingertips slowly slid over the lapel of his suit.

The movement was very light.

Rafe’s breathing deepened at once.

This prince of Manhattan’s underworld suddenly froze. I knew that if any other woman dared to tease him like this, he would throw her onto his bed the next second.

But facing me, he froze.

He looked like a clueless eight-year-old boy seeing an ice cream truck for the first time.

Suddenly, I smiled and bit lightly into his neck.

I left a red mate-mark, like something out of a werewolf romance.

You’re mine now.

I said it silently in my heart.

Rafe finally came back to himself and looked at me in surprise.

The corners of his mouth twitched, as if he were trying desperately to hold back a smile.

I spoke slowly and carelessly.

“Fine.”

“Then try being with me.”

I said it casually.

It was obviously half a joke and half a test.

But Rafe’s eyes suddenly lit up.
