I Bit My Best Friend Until The System Spoiled Me Chapter 13

Amidst his mesmerizing words, the familiar scent of pine completely enveloped me.

The exact moment I lowered my head and bit down, it wasn’t just my mouth and tongue that were satisfied-a hollow space deep inside my heart was instantly filled to the brim.

I clearly hadn’t used much force, yet Ethan gripped the doorframe as if he could barely keep his footing, his breathing terrifyingly heavy and rough.

By the time I had gotten my full fix, I realized the corners of his eyes were beaded with a fresh burst of tears again.

“I’m sorry…”

Remembering what the system had said about him crying from sheer disgust, my pleasant mood instantly crashed into a bitter slump.

After his chest heaved violently a few times, Ethan cupped my face and rested his forehead flat against mine.

“Chloe, those are three words you never, ever have to say to me.”

“I’m the one who should be sorry. Coming over here to seduce you even though I knew you liked someone else… But can’t you just look at the fact that we grew up together and take a little pity on me…?”

My brain went completely offline.

“Who… Who exactly am I supposed to be liking?”

Ethan knit his brows in a deeply aggrieved frown.

“Lucas.”

I felt like there was a massive misunderstanding between us.

“I don’t like Lucas. I didn’t bite him today either. The only person… I’ve ever bitten is you.”

The grip around my waist violently tightened, and Ethan’s breath went so scorching hot it actually left me a little frightened.

“Then why have you been in such a foul mood the past few days? Wasn’t it because he was ignoring you?”

Silence stretched for a few seconds as a sudden realization hit me like a physical blow: the real

reason behind my suffocating, miserable mood was actually that stupid New Girl.

My scalp went completely numb.

If I cared this much about the Female Lead, didn’t that mean I actually… liked the Male Lead?

I stared intently at Ethan. The corners of his eyes were still a flushed red, and his eyes were

completely bright as he gazed back at me.

A flawlessly striking face, a perfect physique, and even that tiny mole I had just finished nibbling on

looked devastatingly beautiful.

Falling for a guy like him didn’t exactly seem surprising.

“Ethan… do you actually like me?”

Looking at our current posture, a sudden wave of intense embarrassment washed over me.

How had I never realized before that every single time I chewed on Ethan, the entire vibe was actually so incredibly thick with tension?

His dark eyes pooled with a deep intensity, his voice dropping into a raspy murmur.

“If I didn’t like you, why would I have let you bite me for all these years?”

“So, Chloe, have you finally cracked the code? You just said you don’t like Lucas, so… do you like

me?”

It felt like a thick wad of cotton was stuffed down my throat. Just as I opened my mouth, intending

to confess, the system’s voice violently erupted in my skull again.

[I am literally so mad right now! I am losing my mind!!!]

I instinctively gave Ethan a hard shove backward, terrified that I was about to get slammed with the villainess label again.

[I just got chewed out by my superior! The main plot is a complete disaster and the Female Lead literally went on strike, but how the hell is that my fault?!]

[Garbage storyline! Fine, go ahead and keep gnawing on this childhood best friend of yours!]

[The Male Lead is all yours. Actually, scratch that, he’s not even the Male Lead anymore!]

It continued to curse and rant aggressively.

[I am definitely not binding myself to an NPC for my next book assignment. A massive crisis like the Female Lead going on strike, and not a single soul bothered to notify me, leaving me wasting my goddamn time here.]

As the fading voice in my head drifted further and further away, my fingertips curled inward slightly.

A bitter, tracing smile hung at the corner of Ethan’s mouth.

“It’s fine. I was just messing around.”

“Chloe… can we still keep being friends?”

Letting out a soft cough, I reached out and gently tugged at the edge of his shirt.

“No, we can’t.”

The faint starlight deep within the boy’s eyes instantly withered into a dark slump. I cleared my throat softly.

“Who goes around leaving teeth marks all over a regular friend’s body?”

“Personally, I think if it’s a boyfriend… then it’s completely fine.”
