I Bit My Best Friend Until The System Spoiled Me Chapter 03

We were so close. I was close enough to see the relentless trembling of his eyelashes, the sudden constriction of his pupils, and a flash of panic that vanished as quickly as it came.

[His breathing is getting heavy again, and his face is literally red with anger because of you. Hurry up and get away from him.]

The system’s voice jolted me, and I hurriedly backed out of Ethan’s embrace.

“Are you… distracted so early in the morning because your condition acting up again?”

After a long silence, Ethan let out a soft cough and asked me.

If he hadn’t brought it up, I might have been fine, but now that he mentioned it, the familiar urge came back a little.

Especially when my eyes landed on him again, I bit my lip.

“No, I don’t want to.”

Lowering his gaze, Ethan gave a faint nod.

Then, our silence resumed.

I had never felt this walk could be so agonizingly long.

Ethan had always been a guy of few words since we were kids, and I was always the one buzzing around him, chattering endlessly.

But right now, I was in absolutely no mood to talk.

Because the system told me that Ethan hated me.

He hated my touch, he hated my biting, and he hated my non-stop chattering even more.

And it was only now that I noticed Ethan really was in a foul mood this whole way.

Several times, I caught a frustrated expression on his face, as if he wanted to say something but kept holding himself back.

Left with no choice, I quickened my pace, walking faster and faster.

“Chloe, if you want to…”

Ethan’s words were only halfway out when the system started braying in my brain again.

[What a saintly Male Lead. He’s literally dying of disgust, yet he’s still worried about your condition.]

I waved my hands in a frantic panic.

“I don’t want to! Not at all! I’ve been doing a lot better lately!”

Ethan’s dark eyes locked onto me, staring for a few seconds before his lips thinned into a tight line.

“Right. Let me know if you need it.”

Listening to the system’s relentless nagging, I mumbled under my breath, “I won’t need it. Not anymore. Ever.”

It wasn’t until I finally stepped into the classroom that I felt like I could breathe a little easier.

My desk mate, Lucas, the textbook definition of a rigid nerd, looked at me and then glanced at Ethan, who was trailing right behind me.

“Did you guys get into a fight?”

Even Lucas could read the dark cloud hanging over Ethan’s face. I propped my chin in my hand, feeling deeply irritated.

“No. Hey Lucas, do you ever read romance novels?”

He quietly turned a page of his practice exam.

“Never. But the girls in the back always say Ethan looks like he walked right out of a romance book cover.”

My mood tanked even further. So everyone could see he was a textbook Male Lead.

Right after we got back from running laps in gym class, I was still arguing about romance novels with Lucas. I asked him if I looked like a Female Lead, and he went dead silent for two seconds.

“There is no Female Lead that stupid.”

Oh, so being a straight-A student makes you God? Furious, I pinched his arm. Right in the middle of our playful scuffle, two tumblers were slammed down onto our desk.

The sheer irritation on Ethan’s face was completely unmasked, and his expression was terrifyingly dark.

“Fresh strawberry smoothies. I grabbed them for us this morning.”

The system let out a heavy sigh.

[The poor Male Lead. You’ve basically bullied him into being your personal servant since kindergarten.]

Biting my lip, I picked up one of the tumblers and took a few long sips, trying to figure out how to tell Ethan that he didn’t need to bring me anything tomorrow.

The air in the room went dead silent. Lucas gave a dry cough.

“I think you took the wrong cup.”

I looked down, only to realize I had already gulped down more than half of Ethan’s smoothie.
