I Back to the Future, My Alpha Regrets Me in the Past Chapter 02

Ryan’s expression turned uneasy. He clearly hadn’t expected Zoe to just walk in.

“Rachel, she only came to say thanks. Don’t get the wrong idea.”

I looked at the fabric on her body. After a long silence, I spoke.

“That fabric belongs to me. It can’t be given to someone else.”

The fabric woven from my love was tied to my life force. I had to reclaim it with my own hands.

From the moment I fell in love with him five years ago, my love for him had generated small amounts of fabric every day. It was the Moon Goddess’s blessing upon me.

And he was a wedding gown designer.

Back then, I’d thought it must be fate. That this was the Moon Goddess’s way of telling me he was my fated mate.

He’d promised to turn it into a gown for me, to dress me in it for our marking ceremony.

But that promise had been given to Zoe instead.

He pushed me aside and shielded the gown.

“No, Rachel. This gown has to stay with Zoe. It’s just a piece of fabric to you, but it’ll make Zoe happy for a long time.”

“What do you even need fabric for? If you want a wedding gown, just tell me. I can make you one anytime. What you’re doing right now is deliberately making things hard for Zoe.”

His frantic tone made it clear he’d already forgotten that he was the one who told me to go abroad so he could design my gown.

Now suddenly I was the one causing problems.

“You can make a new gown for Zoe. I don’t want to give you my fabric anymore.”

Ryan’s expression turned helpless, and he looked at me like I was the one who’d broken a promise.

“Rachel, why do you have to be like this? I can give you a better wedding gown. But I already gave this one to Zoe. Why are you so hung up on it?”

Zoe tugged his sleeve and began her performance, sniffling and acting fragile.

“Ryan, did your girlfriend misunderstand? Does she think I’m here to steal you because I’m your ex?”

“But I really do love this gown. If it’s not okay, I’ll just give it back to Ms. Moore. It’ll break my heart, but I’ll do it.”

Ryan pulled her behind him protectively.

“Are you being serious right now? I haven’t done anything wrong. Why are you going after Zoe like this? So what if she’s my ex?”

“Anything Zoe wants stays with her. This gown is hers. Forever.”

Done nothing wrong?

Someone else?

My eyes burned red. How could he stand there so self-righteous, claiming he’d done nothing wrong, calling the woman he’d loved for five years someone else?

Before I could even react, Zoe pulled the gown off.

“Ryan, since it belongs to your girlfriend, I don’t want it anymore!”

She crouched on the floor, crying like her heart was breaking.

Ryan rushed over to wipe her tears, terrified.

“Zoe, don’t cry. Getting this upset isn’t good for you.”

Then he picked up the gown and grabbed a pair of scissors.

“Rachel, I never thought you’d be this petty. Apologize to Zoe. Otherwise I’ll destroy it.”

He pressed the scissors against the fabric.

I said nothing. Just watched him. The vicious look on his face told me he’d completely forgotten what I’d once told him: that this fabric was more important to me than my own life.

“What if I say no?”

Snip.

A sharp, clean sound. The shoulder flower was cut away.

Searing pain ripped through my body, as if the scissors had sliced into my own flesh.

“Apologize!”

He held the scissors against the strap. His eyes were unwavering.

“I won’t apologize.”

Snip.

Another clean cut. The strap fell away. My shoulder felt like a blade had parted the skin. Agony radiated outward.

“I’ll ask you one last time. Apologize!”

Cold sweat poured down my body. My face was white as paper as I stared at him, but my answer never changed.

“I won’t apologize.”

Snip.

Snip.

Snip.

The gown was shredded to pieces before my eyes, and the wolf inside me was torn apart with it, shattered beyond repair. Dead.

Blood seeped from beneath me.

I collapsed to the floor in agony, nearly blacking out. I wanted to scream, to cry, but no sound came.

Ryan saw the blood and flinched, his face going white.

“What’s happening? Rachel? Why is there so much blood?”

Before I could answer, Zoe suddenly clutched her own body.

“Ryan, I’m so cold!”

I lay on the floor, powerless. Ryan looked down at me, his gaze torn.

Zoe watched him hesitate, and her expression soured.

“Ryan, I’m freezing to death. Can you get me something to wear?”

“Ryan, think about it. Neither of us touched Rachel. How could she possibly be bleeding that much? She obviously stuffed ketchup packets under her clothes and squeezed them open to put on a show for you.”

The moment those words left her mouth, every trace of hesitation vanished from Ryan’s eyes. He scooped Zoe into his arms without a second thought.

Then he looked down at me with disgust.

“Rachel, don’t push it! You’d better clean this up. I don’t want to look at this mess.”

He gazed at Zoe in his arms, his expression melting into gentleness.

“Zoe, let me take you to get a hot bath.”

I watched them disappear down the hall. A laugh bubbled out of me first, and then the tears came, rolling down my cheeks and mixing with the blood on the floor.

He could smell whether it was real blood or not. He knew. But one sentence from Zoe, and he believed her without question.

I never should have loved you, Ryan.
