I Back to the Future, My Alpha Regrets Me in the Past Chapter 01

I stood in the corner, watching the love of my life, Ryan Ashford, complete the final marking ceremony with his ex-girlfriend Zoe Wright right there on the sacred altar. The last shred of hope I’d been clinging to crumbled into nothing.

Ryan had mated another Omega behind my back. And just yesterday, he’d made up some excuse to send me on a vacation overseas.

If I hadn’t come from the future, if I hadn’t loved him enough to fly home early, I would’ve been deceived for the rest of my life.

The wedding gown Zoe wore now was sewn from fabric born of my love for Ryan.

But the mate standing beside him wasn’t me.

Fine then. I would vanish from his life forever.

“Mason, take me back to the future. There’s no reason for me to exist in this era anymore.”

Ryan didn’t know I came from the future. He didn’t know I’d come home early because I loved him too much to stay away.

One month before our marking ceremony, he’d sent me abroad to relax and enjoy myself.

I couldn’t stand being apart from him, so I came back early, hoping to catch a glimpse of whatever surprise he was preparing for me.

What I found instead was a marking ceremony so extravagant the entire city was talking about it. All for Zoe.

Mason stood beside me, watching me freeze in shock, trying to comfort me.

“Ryan promised to mate you. Do you think maybe he has some kind of reason for this?”

I blinked, dazed, and a sliver of hope stirred in my chest.

The next second, Ryan shattered it.

“From now on, every member of the Silver Moon Pack will treat Zoe exactly the way they treat me. I’ll also be transferring half of the pack’s assets into her name.”

“Thank you all for witnessing our happiness. We’ll be together forever.”

I laughed bitterly to myself, watching the scene unfold.

“What reason could there be? He just doesn’t love me. That’s all.”

Mason stopped trying to persuade me. His voice carried nothing but sympathy for me and contempt for Ryan.

“That damn bastard. If he ever regrets this, he’ll never find you again.”

“Rachel, the transfer paperwork back to the future takes three days to process. Take one last look at this world while you can.”

I stared at the crowd, all those smiling faces full of joy, and none of it meant anything anymore. This world, those two people on the altar, they were all just strangers passing through my life.

I walked back to the pack house alone, hollow inside. In the bedroom, Ryan’s lavender diffuser was still running.

He knew I had trouble sleeping. He’d set it up just for me.

The sheets on the bed were fresh, arranged in my favorite color.

Five years together, and he’d always been so attentive, never willing to let me feel the slightest bit of hurt.

And yet the man who loved me like that had still betrayed me.

I gripped the doorframe, and tears fell without permission.

While I stood there in a daze, a familiar scent hit me. Ryan.

The moment he walked through the door, he pushed Zoe down onto the couch and kissed her like he couldn’t help himself.

“Zoe, I finally gave you the grandest marking ceremony I promised. Every wolf in the city witnessed our happiness. I know you love your freedom, so you can be my Luna for however many years you want.”

“Zoe, I can’t take it anymore. My wolf is in heat. You wanna do something about it?”

Zoe melted into his arms, her face flushed with shyness.

“Ryan, you held a marking ceremony with me. What’s Rachel going to do when she finds out? Won’t she break up with you?”

A flicker of worry crossed Ryan’s face, but it vanished almost instantly.

“It’s fine. She’s clueless. As long as she doesn’t find out, she’ll never leave me.”

“She loves me too much, and she’d never go anywhere near my company. She’ll never know.”

The next second, his hand slid to Zoe’s waist, roaming over her body.

Zoe wrapped her arms around his neck, and then moans drifted toward me.

The mingled scent of their coupling spread through the entire pack house.

It nearly made me retch.

I clamped a hand over my mouth and retreated into the bedroom.

An hour passed. Then Ryan sent me a message.

[Rachel, how’s Switzerland? If you’re having fun, stay a few more days. I’ll come pick you up when you’re ready, okay?]

Stay a few more days. I understood perfectly. He just wanted more time to be free, more time to indulge.

Because if I came home, he wouldn’t have as much time to be tangled up with Zoe.

[No need to pick me up. I’m already back.]

The moment I sent that message, the noises in the living room went quiet.

I heard them scrambling to get dressed.

Ryan shoved the bedroom door open, panicked, his shirt buttons still undone.

The color drained from his face.

“Rachel, how are you back so soon? Why didn’t you tell me?”

I didn’t look up. My voice was low.

“I was tired. So I came home.”

He crept over carefully and pulled me into his arms, pressing my face against his chest. That disgusting scent still clung to him.

A wave of nausea hit me so hard I shoved him away. His expression froze. He assumed I was just exhausted.

“It’s okay. Get some rest and you’ll feel better. I missed you like crazy while you were gone.”

Missed me?

More like he wished I’d never come back. I was about to open my mouth and tear through his lies.

Then Zoe walked in, still wearing the wedding gown.

“You must be Rachel? I’m Ryan’s ex-girlfriend. I came to him specifically to have a custom wedding gown made. This one I’m wearing, Ryan made it by hand. His craftsmanship is really incredible.”

“I wore the gown Ryan made me when I married the love of my life, so I came back to thank him personally.”
