I Accidentally Slept With My Future Brother In Law Chapter 12

I Accidentally Slept With My Future Brother In Law Chapter 12

I stared at the two cunning men, dumbfounded.

The king had just become their scapegoat?

An hour later.

The five of us went to the palace to meet the king.

Queen Elizabeth smiled and looked us over.

“The lady beside the Prime Minister looks gentle and modest, like the younger sister. The one

beside the Knight Commander is bright and bold, like the elder.”

Rowan bowed slightly. “Your Majesty has a sharp eye. Thank you for the royal arrangement. I marry the younger lady. My brother marries the elder.”

The king frowned. “No, Rowan. When did I say that?”

“I clearly said you marry the elder, your brother the younger!”

“You must have misremembered, Your Majesty.”

“Impossible!” The king pointed at my father. “Lord Waldergrove, didn’t I say Rowan marries

the elder, Elian the younger? We drank a lot that night, but my memory is fine!”

Father wiped sweat from his brow. “Your Majesty, you did misremember.”

The king looked doubtful.

“Wait, where’s the decree? Bring it and we’ll check.”

Rowan placed one hand on his chest and bowed gracefully. “Your Majesty, my manor was

robbed recently. The decree is gone.”

Father: “My manor was also robbed.”

The king narrowed his eyes at them.

“Do you think I’m a fool?”

“We dare not.” Rowan bowed, unshaken. “I work day and night to revise the kingdom’s laws,

to make Your Majesty’s will the only rule in this land.”

As Prime Minister, Rowan’s new legal code strengthened the crown and weakened old noble

power.

Elian knelt on one knee, his armor clanging. He spoke proudly.

“The three thousand heavy cavalry under my command have sworn loyalty to the throne. We

will drive the northern barbarians out and defend the kingdom’s glory.”

The northern barbarians had raided the border for years.

Elian had chased them all out in just one year.

The king ground his teeth. “Fine. I must have misremembered.”

Rowan: “Your Majesty has so much to manage. It’s only natural to forget.”

Elian: “Yeah, yeah.”

The king looked at Rowan and Elian with disgust.

“You two are pathetic.”

He waved a hand.

“Enough. No need to wait until next month. The wedding is today.”

Good news: We switched to the right partners.

Bad news: We couldn’t run. We had to consummate the marriage tonight.

On the way back to the manor, Father sighed the whole ride.

He looked at Diana, then at me.

“Oh, you silly girl married to Rowan-like a little rabbit thrown into a fox’s den.”

Diana looked at him unhappily.

He looked at me and sighed again.

“Behave yourself. If you shame the Waldergrove family, I’ll never show my face again.”

Father was clearly still worried. He quietly pulled Elian aside.

“Elian, you’re strong, right?”

Elian froze, confused. “Strong?”

“Look at your build. You should be able to handle it.”

Father nodded approvingly and added meaningfully.

“Once the engagement is sealed, all sales are final.”

But the messed-up titles were a headache.

At the Waldergrove house, my sister became my sister-in-law.

At the Karel house, Elian became his own brother’s brother-in-law.

I had to call Rowan my brother. Rowan had to call me his sister.

Elian called Diana his sister-in-law. Diana had to call Elian her brother-in-law.

It was an ethical disaster.

“Never mind. We’ll call each other whatever we want. Don’t confuse ourselves.”

Father gave up and made the final ruling.

Let’s just say Rowan, twenty-eight, got lucky with an eighteen-year-old wife.

And me, twenty-three, unexpectedly gained an eighteen-year-old tanned Knight Commander.
