His Tardiness, Her New Marriage Chapter 11

His Tardiness, Her New Marriage Chapter 11

Blake held out his hand to me, palm up.

I looked at his handsome face, now tinged with impatience.

Under the gaze of everyone present,

I turned my head slightly and said softly to the hotel manager who had been waiting quietly beside me:

“Excuse me, could you please ask the officiant to begin?”

The manager bowed respectfully. “Of course, Mrs. Ashford. Mr. Ashford is ready.”

Mrs. Ashford?

Those two words shattered the certainty on Blake’s face.

His outstretched hand froze in mid-air.

The snickering and whispering from the doorway died instantly.

Only then did I slowly lift my eyes.

I met his gaze, and saw the world of “taken for granted” begin to crumble.

“Mr. Harrington,”

I used a title we had never used with each other, my voice calm. “I believe you’re mistaken.”

“Today is my wedding.”

“But the groom is not you.”

“Audrey, what are you talking about…”

His mind was buzzing, refusing to process the terrifying information that was already piecing itself together—

An Ashford wedding, a Langford bride… it had to be a mistake, a prank,

A scene she was acting out for him because she was angry.

He clung desperately to one belief: Audrey was his.

She was his in the past, she was his now, and she had to be his when she walked down that aisle.

His fingertips were just about to touch my wrist.

“Mr. Harrington.”

A calm voice cut him off.

Nathaniel Ashford was now standing half a step in front of me.

“Please step back.”

Those three words made Blake’s hand hang suspended in the air.

He snapped his head up, his eyes meeting Nathaniel’s.

It was the first time he had gotten a clear look at the man who had replaced him at Audrey’s side.
