His Smokescreen Is Now the Woman He Can’t Have Chapter 20

The tires screeched as Caleb’s car skidded to a stop outside the West Point gate.

The academy was on break, so the gate was closed. The guard on duty immediately stepped forward to stop him.

“Cadet, the academy is on break. No one is permitted to enter without authorization.”

Caleb seemed not to hear. He pushed open the car door and tried to force his way in. His erratic behavior soon brought over the tactical officer on duty, Major Davies.

“Sterling?” Major Davies frowned. “What are you doing here?”

Seeing the instructor, Caleb seemed to grasp at a final thread of hope. He rushed over and grabbed Davies by the arm. His voice was tight, but the tremor was still audible.

“Major, Vance’s withdrawal application… it can be revoked, right? She was just being impulsive. As long as I—”

Davies looked at him, and the surprise in his eyes faded, replaced by a calm understanding.

“It wasn’t an impulse, Caleb.” The instructor’s voice was steady and direct. “She wasn’t throwing a tantrum.”
