Wait, wasn’t Ryan Brooks my boyfriend?

Why did I have such an intimate photo with this guy?

And what did that number above his head even mean?

Maybe my moment of hesitation gave him hope. Logan pulled me into his arms desperately.

“Evie, please come back to me.”

“How could you like someone like Ryan? He’s just a basketball–obsessed guy. What else does he have?”

“We’ve been together for so many years! He can’t compare to me. He doesn’t even know you!”

“What makes him better than me? You love me, not him!”

The disgust inside me grew stronger, mixed with rising anger.

I shoved him away hard and glared at him coldly.

“Logan Vance, stop flattering yourself. I don’t love you. I don’t love you at all!”

“The person I love is Ryan Brooks. He’s loyal, attentive, and caring. In my eyes, you’re not even worth one of

his fingers!”

“I don’t care who you were to me before. Right now, Ryan is my boyfriend. If you dare badmouth him again, I

won’t let you get away with it!”

His face turned deathly pale. His voice was full of grievance.

“You never used to talk to me like this.”

I took a few impatient steps back.

“You said it yourself–that was before.”

“If you keep harassing me, I really will call the cops.”

I turned to leave, but Sophie Ellis came walking toward us.

“Logan, I finally found you.”

Logan’s voice lost all its previous gentleness. He sounded impatient.

“Why are you here? Didn’t we already make things clear?”

“You promised me you’d let the past stay in the past so Evie and I could get married in peace.”

Sophie froze Her eyes filled with resentment.

“I did promise, but that was before. Now I’m pregnant! I can’t let my child grow up without a father!”

Then Sophie dropped to her knees in front of me, crying hysterically.

“Evie, please. I’m begging you, just let me have this.”

“You’re my best friend, aren’t you? You wouldn’t want this baby to be born without a dad, right?”

I felt completely confused and turned to leave.

But Logan stubbornly blocked my path.

“Evie, don’t go! Don’t listen to her lies!”

“You’re the only wife I want. The only child I want is the one you’ll give me!”

His words made Sophie furious.

“Logan, what the hell do you mean? You’re the one who said you wanted a baby that was ours!”

Before she could finish, Logan slapped her across the face.

“Shut up! That was just stupid talk. I don’t want this kid!”

Sophie looked at him in shock.

“What did you say? This is your own child and you’re being this cruel?”

She started clawing at him wildly.

Logan lost control too. He kicked her in the stomach.

“This isn’t my kid! It’s a bastard!”

“As long as this thing dies, Evie will forgive me!”

Sophie curled up on the ground, clutching her stomach in agony.

Logan acted like he couldn’t see her. With bloodshot eyes, he stomped on her belly again and again.

At that moment, the number above his head weirdly jumped back to 100.

“Where the hell did this bastard come from? It has to die!”

Sophie broke out in cold sweat from the pain, but the crazed Logan showed no sign of stopping.

She reached out and grabbed the hem of my dress desperately.

“Evie, please save me I’m begging you.

No matter what, there was still a life in her belly.

I forced down my disgust and spoke up.

“That’s enough! If you’re going to fight, take it somewhere else.”

Logan stopped immediately.

“Okay, okay, Evie. I’ll listen to you. I’ll do whatever you say. Just come home with me, alright?”

The second he grabbed my sleeve, another figure appeared.

Ryan Brooks kicked Logan hard in the chest, sending him flying several feet back.

“I warned you. Touch my girlfriend again and you’ll regret it.”

The police arrived soon after.

Sophie suffered a massive hemorrhage. She lost the baby and had to have her uterus removed.

Logan was arrested for aggravated assault.
