His Bride Was My Sister, Everyone Betrayed Me Chapter 06

His Bride Was My Sister, Everyone Betrayed Me Chapter 06

Leith was the first out of the hotel. He drove straight home.

He burst through the door, calling my name.

“Elara! Elara!”

No answer.

The house was empty. Only the echo of my name bounced off the walls.

Like it was mocking him.

He looked around and realized–the house felt bare

Everything connected to me was gone.

Then he remembered.

A week ago, he’d seen me packing.

He just hadn’t cared. He’d been too focused on Lyra.

So I’d left that day?

It hit him slowly–how little he’d paid attention to me.

How did it come to this?

I was the one he loved most.

The one he’d loved since he was eighteen. The one he wanted to spend his life with.

How did he lose me?

His mind drifted to Lyra.

Six years ago, her father forced her into his company as his assistant.

I’d been hurt by Lyra before. He had no good feelings toward her.

But she never gave up.

Day after day, she stayed by his side.

She made him lunch. Drank with him at business dinners.

Slowly, he started to see her differently.

Then one night, they got drunk. Things went too far

And everything spiraled.

He thought he could hide it from me.

It was just physical–not love. She wouldn’t threater what we had.

But she got pregnant.

His family pressured him, and he signed the marriage license with her.

To make up for it, he finally agreed to marry me.

Lyra pretended to be understanding when she found out.

But he could sense her silent hurt. So he gave her a wedding first.

He never thought I’d show up that day.

He never thought I’d find out.

And he never thought I’d leave.

The thought crushed him. He collapsed to the floor

After what felt like hours, the doorbell rang.

Leith scrambled to his feet and ran to the door.

“Elara, you’re back-”

He stopped.

Soren and Odette stood there.

“Did you find her?”

They exchanged a look–guilt and regret in their eyes.

“No. But we found something else.”

“Lyra… she was never pregnant.”

“What?”

“Not only that–the fall that day? She staged it. It had nothing to do with Elara.

Soren pulled out his phone and played a video.

It was from the Hales‘ security camera.

Lyra was talking to her mother.

About me.

“That idiot Elara–I spilled the drink on her, pushed her, and she still came to give me her blood.”

“Smart move, pretending to be pregnant to get Leith on your side.”

“I wouldn’t waste my time on Soren or that friend of hers if I didn’t love watching Elara fall apart.”

“A few kind words, and they were eating out of my hand.”

“Honestly, they’re beneath me.”

“Whatever it takes, hold onto Leith. The family business depends on him.”

“I know. Elara’s gone. Leith is mine now.”

The video ended.

No one spoke.

They’d all believed her.

They’d turned on me–for her.

And now the truth was laid out in front of them.

A phone broke the silence.

Leith grabbed it.

“Did you find her?”

His cousin’s voice came through, shaky.

“We didn’t find Elara. But I heard something from my supervisor…”

“Last week, when she gave blood–she miscarried.”
