Her New Beginning, My Final Ending Chapter 03

Her New Beginning, My Final Ending Chapter 03

Dad finally lost his patience. He strode over and kicked the basement door hard, cursing in fury Natalie Whitmore are

you seriously going to keep this up? Get out here right now!”

“Claire just escaped this with her life, and you cannot even bring yourself to say one word of congratulations. Who

exactly are you pouting for?”

Adrian frowned slightly too and stepped forward to knock on the door. “Natalie, enough. Come out. Your sister’s fine”

“I already told you I’d come back today and make up for all the ways we overlooked you these past few years, but if you

keep this up, aren’t you taking it a little too far? She’s your sister.”

There was still no response from inside.

It was useless, Adrian. No matter how much more you said, I had no way to answer you anymore.

Claire was the first to realize something was wrong. She drew her brows together, her voice full of worry.

“Natalie gets stomach pain if she skips meals. There’s no way she’d stay in there this long. She must have left her phone

outside.”

She looked around everywhere, only to find that my phone was not outside at all.

I passed through the door and looked at my bodyuto-added to the Library

My phone was lying right beside my head.

“She probably has her phone on her. She’s just ignoring us on purpose.”

Mom’s face darkened as she reached out and stopped Claire.

“Natalie Whitmore, if you insist on staying in there and sulking, then stay there.”

“Claire finally escaped that death prophecy, and she’s still thinking about you. And this is how you repay her? You

ungrateful little brat.”.

“Let’s go. We’re taking Claire on vacation. I never should’ve given birth to such a burden in the first place

Mom dragged Dad and Claire out of the house. Adrian lingered for a moment, his eyes fixed on the basement door.

something unreadable in his expression. After a long pause, he let out a quiet sigh and turned to leave.

I closed my eyes, bitterness pulling at the corners of my mouth.

There were actually two keys to the basement. One was hidden under the mat inside the basement door, and the other

was on Mom.

A moment ago, she could have opened the door with the key she had on her But she did not

Once again, she had come within a single step of finding me.

My parents took Claire and Adrian on a seaside vacation, and my soul was dragged along with them

I watched them celebrate Claire’s escape from the death prophecy, her second chance, her new life They took her

sightseeing. bought her gifts, and went on like that for three straight days.

At the hotel. Claire sat there with her phone in hand, staring at our chat thread. Every message she had sent me

remained unanswered.

“Mom, maybe we should go back.” Claire said, frowning, one hand pressed to her chest as her unease deepened. I’ve had a

bad feeling for days now, and I can’t seem to shake it. I want to go back and check on Natalie.”

“She hasn’t answered a single message all week. I’m scared something happened to her in the basement.”

Dad frowned, his tone thick with impatience. “Ignore her. She’s gotten way too used to throwing fits, and I don’t even

know who spoiled her into being like this.”

But Mom slowly set down the clothes in her hands, her expression turning dazed.

“Natalie’s never acted this outrageously before. Her phone’s obviously with her, so why is she so dead set on cutting us off

this time?”

“By now, she should’ve cooled off and come to her senses…”

The whole family fell silent. Just then, Mom’s phone rang.

It was the neighbor next door.

“Mrs. Whitmore? I heard you all took Claire out on a trip. Is Natalie home?”

“What on earth is she doing in there? The smell is reaching outside.”

Mom froze in shock. For some reason, an overwhelming sense of dread surged through her all at once

She tightened her brows sharply, booked the first tickets home, and said in a strained voice. ‘We’re going back I want to

see what kind of stunt she thinks she’s pulling now.”

The family rushed home on the earliest train they could get. The moment they stepped through the door, the stench hit

them so hard they all covered their noses.

Dad’s forehead bulged with veins. The second he entered the living room, he roated toward the basement. Natalie

Whitmore, are you not satisfied until you turn this whole house upside down?”

“Do you have any idea the neighbors are already talking because of this…”

“Wait!”

Claire suddenly cut him off, her face twisted with stunned horror.

Mom that food on the table. How many days has it been sitting there”

Mom followed her gaze and finally noticed that the meal left on the table had molded over far worse than before

Her lips parted slightly, and all the color drained from her face.

I had not come out of the basement for seven days.

Panicking, she fumbled through her bag for the key. It was right there in the top compartment, but her hands shook so

badly that it still took her forever to find it.

Mom opened the basement door with trembling hands.

At last, it swung open, and an even stronger wave of rot came rushing out.

But the moment she saw what was in the basement, her eyes went wide. Her legs gave out, and she crumpled to the

floor. Her mouth opened, and a ragged, broken scream tore out of her throat.

“Ahhh!”

I closed my eyes.

Mom, you finally found me.
